In the article the results of the second stage of researches on education of scientific research methodology of the National Defense University are presented. The second part shows the results of researches among the students of the last year of studies, who expressed their opinions on the basic issues of methodological education at the University. They consisted of: assessment of the level of knowledge and practical skills from scientific research methodology, the level of interest in methodology classes, assessment of their level of difficulty and the quality of didactical materials. The results of empirical researches of the second stage were compared with the first stage, revealing in conclusions and generalizations existing relationships and differences. The final part of the article was devoted to the methodical assumptions of education in scientific research methodology, taking into consideration rules, forms and methods of education.

Metodologia badań naukowych jest istotnym elementem procesu kształcenia w Akademii Obrony Narodowej. Realizacja tego przedmiotu napotyka jednak szereg istotnych barier wynikających głownie z różnorodnego podejścia metodycznego, preferowania określonych działów wiedzy metodologicznej oraz wytypowanej literatury przedmiotu. Powoduje to powstanie swoistych „szkół metodologicznych” wprowadzających zróżnicowane podejście do problematyki badań w naukach wojskowych już na poziomie założeń ogólnometodologicznych. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi prezentację wyników II etapu badań przeprowadzonych w 2006 roku wśród kadry dydaktyczno-naukowej i studentów w ramach pracy naukowo-badawczej na temat: Uwarunkowania efektywnego kształcenia w zakresie metodologii badań naukowych w AON.

The article is an attempt to present the results of the second phase with regards to research concerning education methodology within the National Defence University. The first part of the article presented methodological assumptions, as well as the concrete data of the faculty survey. The survey focused on: a readiness and capability to conduct scientific research, students’ knowledge of methodology and, finally the faculty’s capability to prepare scientific papers. The research concluded with proposals which could be implemented on daily basis.

This article discuss the current state of and the future development of postgraduate studies conducted at the National Defence University. The courses considered are: the Postgraduate Defence Policy Study (PSPO) and the Postgraduate Strategic-Operational Study. The author assesses the changing security issues and identifies the training needs for military training and education in order to enable military students to understand current security challenges. Recommendations for change include a new approach to the academic curriculum. The future of military education is presented in the context of the future Polish National Defence University as well as with considerations of recent Polish law on higher education.

Przedstawiono zadania inżynierii ruchu w sieci AON. Opisano podstawowe architektury sieci całkowicie optycznych, jakimi są sieci WRN, WRN z konsolidacją ruchu i OBSN. Określono wpływ sygnalizacji na procesy inżynierii ruchu w sieciach AON, a także opisano etapy projektowania struktury sieci całkowicie optycznej wraz z występującymi ograniczeniami (wpływ protekcji i warunku ciągłości falowej). Przedstawiono również stan prac standaryzacyjnych dotyczących sieci AON oraz podsumowano opisane zagadnienia i wysunięto wnioski.

The paper describes traffic engineering problems in all-optical network (AON). First basic AON architectures such as WRN, WRN with traffic grooming, and OBSN are presented. Then the influence of network signalling on traffic engineering processes in AON are described. Particular stages of AON structure design along with many limitations (e.g. protection system, wavelength continuity constraint) are defined. In the end a state of AON standardization process is surveyed and conclusions are drawn.

Anteny konforemne mają szerokie perspektywy zastosowań praktycznych ze względu na możliwość kształtowania powierzchni i możliwości zespolenia anteny z platformami, na których są umieszczane. Skomplikowanie metod projektowania i wykonania anten konforemnych jest na tyle duże, że badaniami i opracowywaniem praktycznych rozwiązań zajmują się zespoły, w których razem pracują inżynierowie z kilku instytucji. W tym kontekście trudne do przecenienia są silne związki pomiędzy laboratoriami w Europie lub na kontynencie północnoamerykańskim. Dobra znajomość własności najnowszych rozwiązań obwodów mikrofalowych, metod przetwarzania sygnałów i możliwości, jakie dają nowe materiały, jest niezmiernie ważna przy pracach badawczych nad antenami konforemnymi. Specyfika anten konforemnych predysponuje je przede wszystkim do zastosowań w pasmach powyżej 1 GHz, a w zakresie fal milimetrowych duże znaczenie ma przestrzenne sumowanie mocy.

Owing to flexibility in antenna surface shaping and platform integration capabilities, conformal antennas have a broad range of potential applications. Difficulty and complexity of design and manufacturing methods is so much challenging, that research in this area and development of practical designs is carried on by teams combing experts from several institutions. Thus, existing strong liaisons between European or North American laboratories is hard to overestimate in this context. A good knowledge of the state-of-the-art microwave technique, signal processing techniques and acquaintance with capabilities offered by modern materials are indispensable in research on conformal antennas. Specific features of conformal antennas makes their applications most effective at frequencies above 1 GHz; spatial power combining is of particular interest in millimeter wave range.

On the background of forecast main directions of the modern civilisation development, the place and role of the armed forces in the next century have been defined in the article. The author represents an opinion that the knowledge of the world development directions, future security problems, in fact of the 20th century war, operations, force character, and most of all, the role of the manager, leader, commander are the bases for designing the armed forces’ shape, progress and functions. The author analyses these factors and then forms suggestions, fulfilling of which will enable facing the requirements of the future.
