The material contained in this study is a signal of the key issues of transport safety in the area of planning, organization and implementation of the transport of dangerous and oversized cargo. The material was created mainly on the basis of available publications as well as conclusions and opinions of experts. Both in the text and at the end of the article, there are numerous references to source materials and similar (partial) studies on selected issues in the area of organization and management theory. It will allow, among others, students to individually analyse the characteristic cases of this class of transport, constituting in a sense an extended outline of the necessary knowledge allowing the student to prepare for lectures, exercises and laboratories. However, this does not exclude the purposefulness of using specialized (directional) literature items containing scientific foundations analytically describing the logistic processes under consideration.

The basis for the proper management of the medical waste (especially at work) is done through their appropriate segregation and disposal. It is estimated that in Poland medical waste is generated by approximately 40 thousand business entities. The article shows the current classification of medical waste, as well as characterizes sources of its creation and means of their collection and storage. It also introduces the readers to the knowledge about the handling of medical waste in the light of the applicable Polish and European laws, including, among other things, transportation and disposal.

Podstawą właściwego zarządzania gospodarką odpadami medycznymi (zwłaszcza w miejscu pracy), jest ich odpowiednia segregacja oraz unieszkodliwianie. Szacuje się, że w Polsce odpady medyczne wytwarzane są przez ok. 40 tys. podmiotów gospodarczych. W artykule podano obecnie obowiązującą klasyfikację odpadów medycznych, opisano źródła ich powstawania, a także sposoby ich gromadzenia oraz magazynowania. Przybliżono również czytelnikom wiedzę na temat postępowania z odpadami medycznymi w świetle obowiązujących przepisów prawa, uwzględniając m.in. ich transport oraz unieszkodliwianie.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie głównych problemów związanych z transportem ładunków niebezpiecznych, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do ich przewozu transportem drogowym w Polsce. Wymaga to przytoczenia ich klasyfikacji w aspekcie obowiązujących dokumentów, co z kolei umożliwia kwantyfikację obszaru potencjalnych zagrożeń. Główna teza artykułu stanowi, że bardzo ważnym elementem w przewozie towarów niebezpiecznych jest odpowiednia dokumentacja, potwierdzająca adekwatność realizowanego przewozu do wymogów prawa. Ponadto dokumenty te są niezbędne w sytuacjach awaryjnych, ponieważ dostarczają, zarówno kierowcy jak i pozostałej załodze pojazdu oraz służbom ratowniczym, dokładnych informacji na temat przewożonego ładunku, dzięki którym możliwe jest właściwe, skuteczne i bezpiecznie przeprowadzenie działań ratunkowych w sytuacji, gdy skrótowa informacja dotycząca potencjalnego zagrożenia zawarta w oznakowaniu pojazdu czy oznakowaniu sztuk przesyłki często nie jest wystarczająca.

The purpose of the article is to identify the main problems related to the transport of dangerous goods, particularly in relation to carriage by road in Poland. This requires citing their classification in terms of the applicable documents, which in turn enables the quantification of the area of potential risks. The main thesis of the article is: A very important element in the carriage of dangerous goods is adequate documentary evidence of the adequacy of the implemented transport to the requirements of the law. In addition, these documents are necessary in emergencies, as they provide both the driver and the rest of the crew of the vehicle and rescue services, accurate information about the cargo in place that is appropriate, effective and safe to carry out rescue operations in situations where brief information on potential threat contained in the marking of the vehicle or the labeling of packages is often not sufficient.
