W pracy przedstawiono ogólne dane na temat nowoczesnego i rozwijanego w kraju żeliwa z grafitem wermikularnym, które z powodzeniem nadaje się na odlewy elementów maszyn i urządzeń, szczególnie pracujących w warunkach zmęczenia cieplnego. Żeliwo to, w porównaniu do żeliwa szarego z grafitem płatkowym, ma lepsze wybrane właściwości mechaniczne oraz zbliżone właściwości odlewnicze i użytkowe, a niektóre z nich nawet korzystniejsze od żeliwa z grafitem kulkowym, dlatego może być zamiennie stosowane do produkcji wielu elementów stosowanych w różnych gałęziach przemysłu. Przedstawiono zarys wybranych własnych badań tego żeliwa wysokojakościowego. Zaprezentowane w pracy zagadnienia, w tym właściwości materiału konstrukcyjnego, jakim jest żeliwo z grafitem wermikularnym, i przykłady jego zastosowania powinny przyczynić się do zainteresowania nim w większym stopniu odlewników i konstruktorów, a zatem do szerszego wykorzystania tego tworzywa na części maszyn i urządzeń.

The study presents the general data on modern cast iron with vermicular graphite, developed in Poland, which can be successfully used for casts of machine and device elements, especially those working under the conditions of thermal fatigue. The mentioned cast iron has better mechanical properties, and its casting properties are close to those of grey cast iron with flake graphite, some of which being more advantageous than those of nodular graphite. And so, it can be alternatively applied for casts in the production of many elements used in various branches of industry. An outline of the authors’ selected own research of this high quality cast iron is presented. The issues discussed in the study, including the properties of cast iron with vermicular graphite as a construction material, as well as examples of its use, should stimulate interest in this material on the side of founders and constructors, and thus, also, its wider application for machine and device components.

Ocena wybranych właściwości żeliwa z grafitem wermikularnym hartowanego z przemianą izotermiczną (AVCI)

Przedstawiono próby otrzymania żeliwa wermikularnego hartowanego z przemianą izotermiczną (AVCI – Austempered Vermicular Cast Iron) oraz wyniki badań tego żeliwa. Obejmują one metodykę wytopów, strukturę żeliwa przed i po hartowaniu izotermicznym, właściwości mechaniczne i badania dylatometryczne.

The work herein presents the tests to produce austempered vermicular cast iron (AVCI – Austempered Vermicular Cast Iron) and the results of examination of the produced AVCI. The work includes the methodology of heats, the structure of the AVCI before and after austempering, mechanical properties and dilatometer testing.
