Contemporary command and control system supports commanders in their decision making process and allows passing on tasks and orders. Technical means tend to play a pivotal role in the system. They mainly face considerable challenge of network centric concept of warfare that imposes increasing demands in the fields of reconnaissance, communications, data processing and display as well as personnel deployment and transport. Exploiting high technology in the activities mentioned above will undoubtedly ensure operational capabilities for effective employing air force in the future battle space.

Współczesny system dowodzenia wspomaga dowódców w procesie podejmowania decyzji oraz umożliwia przekazywanie zadań do wykonawców. Istotną rolę w tym systemie odgrywają techniczne środki dowodzenia. Poważne wyzwanie dla technicznych środków dowodzenia wynikają głównie z koncepcji walki sieciocentrycznej, która zwiększa ich wymagalność w zakresie rozpoznania, łączności, przetwarzania i zobrazowania informacji oraz rozmieszczenia stanu osobowego i transportu. Zastosowanie nowoczesnych technologii w rzeczonych środkach niewątpliwie zapewni osiąganie zdolności operacyjnych niezbędnych do skutecznego użycia sił powietrznych w warunkach perspektywicznego pola walki.

Auxiliary telecommunication network is one of the elements of communication network organised on the brigade and division level. It is assumed to consist of four constantly deployed communication knots. The research on the organisation of auxiliary telecommunication system carried out basing on a division exercise showed that three telecommunication knots are the basis of auxiliary network. This problem has been mentioned in the example of a division in assault with the element of crossing a water obstacle.

One of the development directions for contemporary military communication is to fulfil current and future needs of military user communication system. The idea is to ensure communication in every place, at any time, in any form and with other callers for a military telephone subscriber on a tactical level (but not only). The basis characteristic of the telecommunication system with a radio access is to ensure a mobile telephone subscriber, so a radio subscriber, joining either a field or a stationary telecommunication system (or vice versa). At the same time there should be ensured the realisation of a wide service range, including high quality sound transmission, fast data transmission, static picture transmission and others. Such services are enabled by civilian systems called GSM (DCS) and others. The article presents the idea of radio access systems functioning in civilian network and also systems planned to be introduced in the armed forces.
