It is observed that in some money exchange operations, every n-variable mean M applied by two market analysts who are acting in different countries should be self reciprocally conjugate. The main result says that the only homogeneous weighted quasi-arithmetic mean satisfying this condition is the weighted geometric mean. In the context of invariance of the geometric mean with respect to the arithmetic-harmonic mean-type mapping, the possibility of the occurring reciprocal-conjugacy in technical sciences is commented.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań, których celem było określenie zależności wielkości i rozkładów kropel w strudze aerozolu od parametrów operacyjnych procesu rozpylania oraz od wymiarów geometrycznych komory wirowej rozpylacza. Określono wpływ objętościowego natężenia przepływu gazu i cieczy na rozkład promieniowy, widmo rozpylenia oraz średnią objętościowo-powierzchniową średnicę kropli. Wykazano, że im większa wartość stosunku wysokości komory mieszania do jej średnicy tym otrzymuje się większe krople w osi rozpylanej strugi.

The paper presents results of experimental study aimed at the investigation of operating parameters effects on atomization process and swirl chamber geometrical dimensions on droplets size and droplets size distribution in aerosol stream. The effect of gas and liquid volumetric flow rate on the radial droplets size distribution, drop size histogram and Sauter mean diameter was determined. It was shown that the higher value of height to mixing chamber diameter ratio, the larger droplets are obtained in the spray axis.

Some variants of the Lagrange and Cauchy mean-value theorems lead to the conclusion that means, in general, are not symmetric. They are symmetric iff they coincide (respectively) with the Lagrange and Cauchy means. Under some regularity assumptions, we determine the form of all the relevant symmetric means.

W artykule podjęto próbę opisu praktycznego zastosowania filtru Kalmana podczas pomiaru napięcia zawierającego szum. Artykuł zawiera zwięzły opis operacji matematycznych wykorzystywanych podczas filtracji oraz przykład wyników generowanych z wykorzystaniem filtra Kalmana zastosowanych do przebiegu napięcia zarejestrowanego przez autora.

In the article an attempt of the description of the filter of Kalman was made with the practical application at the measurement of the tension containing the noise.A concise description of the operations contains the article mathematical used at the filtration and example of results generated with using the filter of Kalman carried out by the author.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki obliczeń, dokonanych na podstawie metody opisanej w artykule [4], w postaci histogramów słupkowych prezentujących osiągi statków (średnią długoterminową prędkość) w zależności od linii żeglugowej i jego wielkości z uwzględnieniem statystycznych warunków pogodowych występujących na danej linii.

The paper presents results of calculations based on a method discussed in the paper [4]. The results are given as bar charts with performance of ships (mean statistical speed) dependent on an ocean route and the size of a ship. Statistical weather data on a particular ocean route are taken into account.

Podczas projektowania statku, jednym z wymagań armatora jest osiągnięcie zakładanej prędkości. W rzeczywistych warunkach pogodowych na statek działają siły od wiatru i fali, powodując powstanie dodatkowego zmiennego oporu oraz spadek prędkości. W artykule przedstawiono metodę obliczania średniej statystycznej prędkości eksploatacyjnej dla danego statku w długim okresie podczas pływania na założonej linii żeglugowej.

One of shipowner's requirements that the shipyard has to satisfy is the designed ship speed. In real weather conditions a ship is affected by forces from wind and waves resulting in additional changeable resistance and ship's speed loss. The article presents a method for calculation of the mean statistical ship speed for a given ship over a long time period during an operation on a selected ocean route.
