W artykule przedstawiono sylwetkę wspaniałego, niezwykłego człowieka, wybitnego konstruktora maszyn i napędów elektrycznych, działacza stowarzyszeniowego wyróżnionego godnością członka honorowego Stowarzyszenia Elektryków Polskich, redaktora naczelnego Śląskich Wiadomości Elektrycznych przez 17 lat, a ostatnio honorowego redaktora naczelnego dwumiesięcznika.

Engineering and social achievements of Iwo Cholewicki were presented in the paper. He was born in Lviv. During the second world war in 1943, as fifteen years old boy, he came back to Poland from former eastern part of the country. He graduated Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the Silesian University of Technology. As a student he began his first job as a constructor and designer of DC electrical drives. He spent totally 48 years in the research institute KOMEL in Katowice till retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers SEP since 1950. During that time, he served first as the president of SEP division in Komel. Then in 1994 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Coal Basin Department (OZW) in Katowice. During seventeen years between 1999-2017 he was the general editor of the Silesian Electrical Journal. In 2018 he was elected by the General Assembly of SEP in Poznań to the prestigious position of the SEP honorary member. Iwo Cholewicki kept close scientific and friendly contacts with the Silesian University of Technology. He was the active member of the Alumni Association in the Silesian University of Technology.
