Clinching is a mechanical fastening technique for point joining of sheet materials. The focus of this paper is presentation of some aspects of clinching process. Mechanical strength of clinch joint and its comparison with other joints are discussed. Essential parameters of this joint are indicated. The example of laboratory test-stand is presented - a pair of tools (punch and die) attached to C-frame hydraulic press as well as a few example clinch joints of different sheet metals.
