A masonry basement wall was heavily dampened due to the lack of waterproofing in the ground contact area. Internal sand-lime wall plaster samples were subjected to chemical, physical and strength tests. The main phases of the damaged plaster were quartz and calcite. A measuring method of the tensile strength of plasters was proposed. A polar-symmetric deformation problem of a thick-walled spherical tank, allowing for the estimation of circumferential stresses in the spherical model was used for the analysis. It was found that the same values of porosity correspond to identical values of circumferential stresses, regardless of the values of the radii of the analyzed model. Thus the purpose of the presented research was to demonstrate that the mentioned dependence applied in the adopted model may be useful for the analysis of problems involving the resistance of internal plaster structure to the expansion caused by crystallization pressure.

W artykule omówiono istotne problemy związane z eksploatacją konstrukcji budowlanych. Szczegółowo przedstawiono problemy techniczne, jakie wystąpiły w konstrukcjach dachowych dwóch hal sportowych po pracach remontowych. Analiza konstrukcji dachu wykazała, że nośność elementów konstrukcyjnych została znacznie przekroczona. Nie zostały spełnione stany graniczne nośności i użytkowalności. Wskutek tego badana konstrukcja pokrycia dachowego znajdowała się w stanie przed awaryjnym. Zidentyfikowano zagrożenie bezpieczeństwa dla użytkowników, co spowodowało konieczność wyłączenia z użytkowania badanych hal sportowych. Zaproponowano wymianę istniejącej ciężkiej okładziny dachowej na lekką z blach falistych układanych na płatwiach gorącowalcowanych. Zmieniono też konstrukcję dachu i obecnie obydwie hale są użytkowane.

The paper discusses important problems associated with the exploitation of building structure. It contains preliminary definitions as well. The paper presents technical problems that have occurred in the roof structures in two sports halls after renovation works. Analysis of the roof structure demonstrated that the resistance of structural elements of the roof structure was considerably surpassed. The ultimate and serviceability limit states were also not met. In effect, the investigated structure of the roof cladding was in the pre-failure state. A security risk to users has been identified. The investigated sports halls had to be exempted from use. The replacement of the existing heavy cladding with the light one made of corrugated sheets placed on hot-rolled purlins was suggested. The roof structure was changed and now the hall is in service.

W artykule opisano wpływ uszkodzeń tarasu na zawilgocenie ścian zewnętrznych. Przeprowadzone pomiary zawilgocenia poszczególnych fragmentów ściany zewnętrznej wykonanej z cegły ceramicznej wykazały zróżnicowanie ich wartości w zależności od lokalizacji. Pomierzona wilgotność masowa została wykorzystana do wykonania symulacji obliczeniowych zmiany zawilgocenia ściany w czasie, zrealizowanych w programie WUFI.

The article describes problems related to the influence of terrace damage on the moisture dampness of external walls. Conducted measurements of moisture of individual fragments of the external wall made of ceramic bricks showed variation in their value depending on the location. Measured mass moisture were used to perform computational simulations of the moisture change of the wall over time, carried out in the WUFI program.
