Porphyrins and their complexes with Cu(II) and Ni(II) have been separated by adsorption thin-layer chromatography. The effects of Cu(II) and Ni(II) cations on the separation of porphyrins and metalloporphyrins have been determined.

Selected aliphatic compounds have been separated by reversed-phase (RP) HPLC and the log P values of the compounds have been correlated with retention times and with the numerical values of topological indices. Accurate prediction of the log P values of the aliphatic compounds investigated was achieved by use of biparametric equations employing two topological indices or the retention time and one topological index.
