Obecnie w polskiej sieci kolejowej trwa implementacja systemu ERTMS/ETCS poziomu 2. Na wszystkich liniach, na których wdraża się rozwiązanie lub planuje się wdrożyć w najbliższym czasie, zdecydowano o prowadzeniu ruchu mieszanego, tzn. zarówno pociągów wyposażonych, jak i niewyposażonych w urządzenia pokładowe systemu ERTMS/ETCS poziomu 2. Artykuł prezentuje zagadnienia związane z funkcją kontroli przejazdu w systemie i jego prawidłowego zaprojektowania, tak aby system ETCS spełniał wymagania dostępności i bezpieczeństwa dla linii o ruchu mieszanym.

Currently the ERTMS/ETCS level 2 system is implemented on the polish railway lines. On all railway lines where this system is implemented (or will be implemented in near future) there is a mix traffic. It means that both equipped and unequipped with ETCS system trains shall be considered from command and control system point of view. This article presents issue related to the function of passage control in the system and its proper design for fulfill availability and safety requirements for mix traffic signaling.

Linear positioning of railway objects

The article provides an explanation of the issue related to the linear positioning of railway objects in the context of preparing site data for automatic train protection systems, such as the European Rail Traffic Management System/European Train Control System (ERTMS/ETCS). This paper identifies and compares current approaches for an object’s position based on a line chainage for orientation and documentation purposes, as well as the object’s position based on a track axis for the calculation of real world distances, along with providing examples of measurement systems and presenting conclusions from test runs for ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 purposes.
