The paper presents results of measurements of optical signals emitted by partial discharges occurring on the surface of cylindrical insulator made of porcelain. The optical signals were recorded using a spectrophotometer type HR4000, from Ocean Optics. This device was applies for measurement of electromagnetic waves in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible light range. The measurement system and elements of the laboratory setup, used in research works, are presented in the paper. In the study the effect of supply voltage value on the intensity of the recorded signals was investigated. As a result of the performed analysis characteristics of optical signals emitted on the considered type of HV insulator were determined. In particular, the lengths and intensities of the emitted signals, and the dependency of the supply voltage on the optical emission were illustrated. The gathered wavelength spectra were subjected to a regression analysis where a mathematical model consisting of a set of Gauss functions was used in the aim of determining the intensities of wavelengths included in the registered radiation.

Układ pomiarowy i elementy instalacji laboratoryjnej, stosowanych w pracach badawczych, zostały przedstawione w artykule.

The paper presents measurements results of optical signals emitted by partial discharges (PD) occurring on various high voltage (HV) insulators made of porcelain. The following devices were considered during the research works: an insulating cylinder, a long rod insulator and a cap insulator. The optical signals were recorded with two different devices: 1) an ultraviolet (UV) camera and 2) a spectrophotometer. The measurements of optical signals were performed under laboratory conditions by changing the supply voltage and the distance between the HV and the ground electrodes. Based on the gathered results it was stated that the maximal number of optical emission counts, which was measured within the UV camera, was different for each of the considered device types. it was also stated that the optical signals registered with the UV camera (250-280 nm) are not the most intense signals contained in the radiation. Application of the spectrophotometer has enabled to show that there are more intense wavelength components which are in the range from 320-380 nm.

The paper presents results of research works whose aim was to determine and indicate characteristics of optical signals emitted by corona discharges occurring in the vicinity of two types of high-voltage (HV) cap insulators. The experimental studies were performed under laboratory conditions using an ultraviolet (UV) camera. Two types of cap insulators were analyzed: one made of glass and the second one made of porcelain. For both considered insulating devices, the influence of supply voltage on the intensity of optical radiation was determined. The obtained results were analyzed and compared. Based on the results, it was stated that both cap insulators indicated similar characteristics but the most significant difference lied in the existence of the punch-through on the glass cap.
The aim of the research works, results of which are presented in this paper, was to determine the feasibility and to indicate the application scope of optical method in the diagnosis of high-voltage (HV) long rod insulators. Diagnosis of technical condition of HV insulators is critical, because the insulation system undergoes aging processes, which cause deterioration of the insulating properties. The measurements were performed during test under laboratory conditions using an UV camera. Corona partial discharges occurring on the long rod insulator were registered, while the supply voltage value was increased. The presented analyses consider dependencies of the supply voltage value on the count number of UV photons emitted by partial discharges occurring in long rod insulator made of porcelain.
The article presents results of partial discharge (PD) measurements conducted in lab conditions, with the use of the HV testing apparatus, where PDS100 analyzer was used for detection.
The paper presents the analysis results of optical signals measured by photographic technique. The optical signals were emitted by surface discharges occurring on two models of bushing and two models of post insulators during tests under laboratory conditions. The analyses were carried out in order to determine the impact of changes in distance between the HV source and the grounding on the intensity of emitted optical radiation according to red, green and blue components. In addition, the influence of discharge duration on the optical emission intensity was estimated.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy sygnałów optycznych mierzonych techniką fotograficzną. Sygnały optyczne emitowane były przez wyładowania niezupełne typu powierzchniowego, występujące na dwóch modelach izolatora przepustowego i na dwóch modelach izolatora wsporczego. Pomiary wykonano w warunkach laboratoryjnych. W sekcji drugiej krótko scharakteryzowano izolatory wsporcze i przepustowe. W sekcji trzeciej opisano modele badanych izolatorów, zawarto trzy schematy blokowe oraz opisano metodologię pomiaru. W sekcji czwartej zawarto równania matematyczne wykorzystane do obliczenia intensywności składowych RGB zarejestrowanego promieniowania optycznego oraz osiem rysunków prezentujących wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz. W sekcji piątej szczegółowo omówiono otrzymane wyniki oraz zamieszczono podsumowanie uzyskanych charakterystyk.
