There are topics that concern society on a narrow or wide scale, but ethics are permeated continuously throughout the society. Ethics is not only a discipline of practical philosophy examining the standards of human moral conduct, but in the professional level it is primarily a method of thinking and a sort of compass for the professional activity of an individual, in the dimensions of dignity, honour and conscience. It does not decide itself, but it provides opportunities for free choice of moral choice and voluntariness of action. Every field of human activity, and therefore also the field of health care, has its own moral imperatives, rules and norms, the observance of which is ensured primarily by conscience within the mechanism of self-reflection. We act in the background of conscience to preserve our moral integrity and honour, act so that we can respect ourselves and not lose the respect of others. It's not just expert knowledge, but above all an ethical human approach that makes a real and good health care professional. The reason for presenting our contribution is an outline of the current current discourse on medical ethics in the Czech Republic. Its source is the above-mentioned publication line, but above all the empirical practical experience of the author, reflected in the theoretical character of the article The open and still unresolved ethical dilemmas that doctors meet in their profession are many and for this reason the title of the article is conceived in the sense of an open name - medical ethics in dimensions, respectively. in the dimensions of perhaps never ending ethical issues concerning health.

Ethical-nursing approach to the quality of patient´s life in a terminal stage of the cancer disease

There are health issues that concern larger or smaller groups of people, but the topic of oncological diseases, which are one of the most urgent problems of human society, concerns us all. Oncological disease is an immense interference not only in the life of a person with the disease, but it is also a stigma of their whole family to a large extent. For all people involved, the situation becomes very demanding, especially when the disease enters the terminal stage. The quality of life of terminally ill cancer patients is determined by the degree of personal suffering and the ability of the patients to individually meet their various needs. Awareness of the profound aspectual essence of ethical and humanistic connections in the context of providing suitable nursing care, focused on the application of the most possible degree of empathy and loving approach to patients based on reverence and respect for human dignity to the end of life, contributes significantly to the improvement of the quality of life. The contribution also contains a survey focused on the quality of life of terminally ill cancer patients.

Istnieją tematy medyczne, odnoszące się do większych lub mniejszych grup ludzi, lecz temat chorób onkologicznych (nowotworowych), które są jednym z najbardziej naglących i aktualnych problemów społeczeństwa, dotyczy nas wszystkich. Schorzenie onkologiczne przynosi głęboką ingerencję nie tylko w życie człowieka chorego na raka, ale w dużej mierze jest to piętno dla całej jego rodziny. Dla wszystkich zainteresowanych sytuacja staje się bardzo trudna przede wszystkim wtedy, gdy choroba wchodzi w końcowe stadium. Jakość życia osób nieuleczalnie chorych (onkologicznie) zależy od stopnia osobistego cierpienia i zdolności pacjenta do samodzielnego zaspokajania zróżnicowanych potrzeb. Świadomość głębokiej esencjonalnej istoty powiązań etycznych i humanistycznych w kontekście zapewnienia odpowiedniej opieki pielęgniarskiej, skupiającej się na empatii i miłym podejściu do pacjentów, szacunku i poszanowaniu godności ludzkiej do końca życia. Przyczynia się to znacząco do poprawy jakości życia. Częścią pracy jest również badanie dotyczące jakości życia chorych w schyłkowej fazie choroby nowotworowej.
