Nowadays, knowledge management in organization is a big challenge and an important task for managers at all levels. The effectiveness and efficiency in a decision-making process - to a high extent - depends on the availability of reliable and comprehensive knowledge. There are many IT tools that were created to meet an organization’s needs related to the access to the best quality of knowledge. This publication concerns the theme of knowledge management in organization and the tools supporting this sphere. The authors focus on the characterization of the management dashboard within the architecture of the Business Intelligence system. Moreover, the implementation process of dashboards within the Business Intelligence system is defined and presented.

Zarządzanie wiedzą w organizacji obecnie stanowi duże wyzwanie i ważne zadanie dla menedżerów wszystkich szczebli. Skuteczność i efektywność w procesie podejmowania decyzji są w dużej mierze uzależnione od dostępności wiarygodnej i pełnej wiedzy. Istnieje wiele narzędzi informatycznych, które powstały w celu zaspokojenia potrzeb organizacji dotyczących dostępu do jak najlepszej jakościowo wiedzy. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje tematykę zarządzania wiedzą w organizacji i narzędzi wspierających ten obszar. Autorzy skupili się na scharakteryzowaniu kokpitu menedżerskiego w ramach architektury systemu Business Intelligence. Ponadto, zdefiniowanoi przedstawiono proces wdrażania kokpitu menedżerskiego w ramach systemu Business Intelligence.

The purpose of the article is to present the Expert System Development Life Cycle (ESDLC) and – in particular – the ESDLC’s evaluation stage. The essence of expert systems has been briefly described in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) context. Authors concentrated on the WIKex expert system, which was a practical part of the master’s thesis submitted by one of the authors of the University of Economics in Katowice. Moreover, the results of WIKex evaluation have been presented as a the last stage of the life cycle of the expert system.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja cyklu życia systemu ekspertowego, a w szczególności etapu oceny systemu ekspertowego. W artykule przedstawiono istotę systemów ekspertowych w kontekście systemów sztucznej inteligencji. Autorzy zaprezentowali WIKex – system ekspertowy, którego opracowanie stanowiło przedmiot części praktycznej pracy magisterskiej jednego z autorów na Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym w Katowicach. Przedstawiono wyniki oceny systemu WIKex jako ostatniego etapu cyklu życia systemu ekspertowego.

The work presents the results of experimental study on the possibilities of determining the source of an ultrasonic signal in two-dimensional space (distance, horizontal angle). During the research the team used a self-constructed linear array of MEMS microphones. Knowledge in the field of sonar systems was utilized to analyse and design a location system based on a microphone array. Using the above mentioned transducers and broadband ultrasound sources allows a quantitative comparison of estimation of the location of an ultrasonic wave source with the use of broadband modulated signals (modelled on bats’ echolocation signals) to be performed. During the laboratory research the team used various signal processing algorithms, which made it possible to select an optimal processing strategy, where the sending signal is known.

W artykule przedstawiono problemy ochrony nietoperzy w starych wyrobiskach podziemnych kopalni na przykładzie Sudetów. Omówiono znaczenie starych kopalni jako siedlisk nietoperzy, zagadnienia prawne ich ochrony oraz, stan zasiedlenia podziemnych obiektów i ich ochrony na obszarze polskiej części Sudetów. Przedstawiono także skutki niepokojenia nietoperzy przez ruch turystyczny i podstawowe zalecenia ochronne, ważne w przypadku prowadzenia prac zmierzających do zmiany funkcji dawnych kopalni na obiekty turystyczne, magazyny, rezerwaty nietoperzy etc.

The paper shows the basic problems of bat protection in the old underground mines on the case of Sudety Mts, (SW Poland). The role of underground mines as bats habitats, the law problems of its protection and the stale of bat settlement and protection in old mines in the Polish part of Sudety Mts. are described. The impact of tourist disturbance on hibernating and swarming bats is showed and basic bat protection prescriptions are formulated, which are important in works changing the function of old mines (opening public tourist routes, warehouses, establishing bat nature reserves etc.).
