Omówiono rezultaty badań biodegradowalności ścieków wiertniczych i ścieków wiertniczych zasolonych przy użyciu chlorku sodu. Przeanalizowano wpływ zasolenia na przebieg biodegradacji tlenowej zanieczyszczeń organicznych ścieków wiertniczych.

Aerobic biodegradability of pollutants in aqueous solution is crucial for the process of waste treatment in biological purification plants. In the paper the results of drilling waste-water biodegradability studies are presented. Sodium chloride was used to increase the salt concentration and the influence of salt on biodegradation process of drilling waste-waters was investigated and discussed.

Metale ciężkie stanowią obecnie jedno z podstawowych i najbardziej niebezpiecznych antropogenicznych zanieczyszczeń wprowadzanych do ekosystemów. W Zakładzie Ochrony Środowiska INiG już w 2002 r. rozpoczęto badania mające na celu oznaczenie zawartości metali w próbkach gleby. Badaniom poddano próby gleby z terenów kopalni ropy naftowej i gazu ziemnego, oznaczając w nich zawartość toksycznych metali ciężkich. W referacie scharakteryzowano materiał badawczy, zastosowane metody analityczne, zamieszczono wyniki badań oraz podano ocenę szkodliwości metali zawartych w glebach w świetle obowiązujących standardów jakości środowiska.

Heavy metals are at present put among the most dangerous for ecosystem antropogenic pollutants. The content of heavy metals in soil from oil and gas production sites has been controlled starting from 2002 in order to find whether this environmental aspect is of great importance for oil and gas industry and to establish proper rules of heavy metal concentration monitoring. In the paper the details of analytical procedure and the results of measurement of heavy metal concentration in soil are presented and discussed in the light of new requirements on environment quality standards.

Results of aerobic biodegradation of some organic drilling fluids components (SPERCENE CF, ROKAFENOL N-8, INLUB, POLYPAC, STARDRILL) have been described and discussed. The investigated products were solubled in water and characterized on the base of their chemical features as harmful for environment - some of them have shown to be biodegradable to high degree (50% to 90%) which has tempered the opinion of their potential negative impact on environment.

Many fears of negative impact causcd by drilling wastes gathered in reserve pits and burried in the ground refer to possibility of water and soil pollution by heavy metals. It is the reason why in the chemical investigations of drilling material, drilling fluid and drilling waste toxicity heavy metal content is determined. In this paper the results of such determinations carried out in Poland comments on environmental threats connected with heavy metals in drilling wastes area given.

Management of drilling waste waters, which is the first stage of reserve pit closing up is often difficult because of significant concentration of different contaminants. In many cases, but not always, good results in drilling waste waters cleaning are achieved by using coagulation and flocculation. In this paper the results of investigation on drilling waste waters cleaning are presented, together with the characteristics of drilling waste waters produced during drillings with different drillings mud as well as assessment of effectiveness of their cleaning.

Analytical chemistry plays important role in environmental protection and environmental impact assessment of every branch of industry. In the paper analytical problems connected with the oil and gas exploration and production activities are specified. The scope and role of the analytical laboratory dealing with such problems are discussed on the base of experience gathered by acreditated laboratory of Oil and Gas Institute.
