In reversed-phase liquid chromatography, in case of the absence of additives, cationic basic compounds give rise to asymmetrical and broad peaks as a result of interactions of analyte cations with residual free silanols on silica-based stationary phases. Ionic liquids, added to the mobile phase, have been suggested as alternatives to amines to block the activity of free silanols. The different parameters affecting the retention behavior, symmetry of peak, system efficiency, and separation selectivity of selected psychotropic drugs, especially the effect of concentration of ionic liquid, kind and concentration of organic modifiers of mobile phases, and kind of stationary phases were investigated. The most selective and efficient systems are used for separations of psychotropic drug standards' mixture and for determination of selected psychotropic drugs in human serum.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę związaną z nieszczelnościami w dylatacjach konstrukcyjnych na przykładzie remontu w wielopoziomowym garażu naziemnym. Brak wytycznych dotyczących naprawy dylatacji skutkuje tym, że inwestorzy wielokrotnie podchodzą bezskutecznie do uszczelniania tych elementów. Artykuł wskazuje podstawowe czynności, jakie należy podjąć w celu właściwego zabezpieczenia przerw dylatacyjnych przed wodą na każdym z etapów budowy lub remontu konstrukcji. Zaproponowano na przykładzie sposób naprawy uwzględniający złożoność pracy konstrukcji w miejscach występowania dylatacji.

The paper presents problems related to leakage in construction joints on the example of repair in a multi-storey ground garage. Lack of repair guidelines results in the fact that investors repeatedly go unsuccessfullty to seal these components. The article indicates the basic steps to be taken to adequately protect the expansion joints against water at each stage of construction or repair of structures. An example of a repair method is proposed, taking into account the complexity of the construction work in places where dilation occurs.

This paper presents a systematic thermogravimetric (TG) study on the kinetics of end-of-life tyre (ELT) pyrolysis. In the experimental part of this work, TG results are compared for tyre samples of different mass and size. This shows that the conduction resistance in the milligram scale (up to ~100 mg) tyre sample can be neglected. A comparison of experimental results demonstrates that the characteristic maxima on the DTG curve (the first derivative of TG signal) shift towards higher temperatures for higher heating rates. This phenomenon is explained to have kinetic origin and it is not caused by the internal heat transfer resistance. In the modelling part of this work, the kinetic parameters of the Three-Component Simulation Model (TCSM) are calculated and compared to the literature values. Testing of the kinetic model is carried out using experiments with a varying heating rate. This shows the limitation of the simplified kinetic approach and the appropriate selection method of the kinetic parameters.

Vortioxetine is a new drug against major depressive disorder with high affinity for a range of different serotonergic targets in the central nervous system. Therapeutic drug monitoring is an important tool for the clinical management of patients receiving a pharmacotherapy, particularly in psychiatry. For this reason, determination of drug concentration in biological fluids is important for a rational dosage of drugs. Rapid and reliable analytical assays are also required to detect and identify drugs of toxicological importance. For analysis of vortioxetine by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), no procedures for its determination in saliva have been reported and there are only a few ones for its determination in serum. A sensitive and selective highperformance liquid chromatography with diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) or mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS) method was developed for the fast quantification of vortioxetine in human saliva and serum. The determination was performed on a Synergi Polar RP column in isocratic mode under the optimal mobile phase containing 70% methanol, 20% acetate buffer at pH 3.5, 10% double distilled water, and 0.025 M L−1 diethylamine.

Three independent reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) procedures with diode array detection (DAD) for the analysis of carbamazepine (CBZ), topiramate (TPM), and valproic acid (VPA) have been developed in order to determine drug penetration of the blood—brain barrier. Determination of CBZ was performed on C18 column with mobile phases containing methanol (55%, v/v), acetate buffer at pH 3.5 (20%, v/v), double distilled water (25%, v/v), and 0.025 M L−1 diethylamine (DEA). The mobile phase containing acetonitrile and water (8:2, v/v) or acetonitrile and phosphate—citrate buffer at pH 2.6 (1:1), respectively, for analysis of VPA and TPM was applied. Quantification of carbamazepine was performed at 285 nm without extraction procedure before the analysis. Determination of topiramate and valproic acid was performed using precolumn derivatization with 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate (FMOC-Cl). FMOC-Cl is a suitable agent, which reacts with both primary and secondary amines and also with acidic groups. Topiramate was determined at 263 nm and valproic acid at 300 nm. The proposed procedures are simple, not time-consuming, and suitable for the determination of investigated compounds in mouse brain homogenates.

W pracy przeprowadzono badania doświadczalne pirolizy zużytych opon w zbudowanym do tego celu stanowisku pomiarowym. Wyniki badań pokazały wpływ temperatury na udziały poszczególnych frakcji produktu, stężenia kluczowych składników fazy ciekłej i gazowej oraz powierzchnię właściwą karbonizatów.

In this work pyrolysis of waste tyres was investigated in the specially built experimental setup. The results show the effect of temperature on the yields of char, iol and gas obtained in the process. Also, the concentration of key species in gas and liquid phases and specific surface area of chars are presented.

Żyjemy w epoce „płynnej nowoczesności”, w której coraz częściej wartość dzieł sztuki i kultury materialnej mierzona jest siłą nowości. „Artyści, których przodkowie utożsamiali wartość dzieła z wiecznością jego trwania, a przeto zabiegali jak mogli o jego niezniszczalność i nieskazitelną doskonałość (…), teraz popisują się instalacjami do rozmontowywania po zamknięciu wystawy, happeningami kończącymi się w chwili, gdy uwaga ich aktorów uleci ku innym sprawom, owijaniem mostów w płachty plastikowe do chwili wznowienia ruchu kołowego” [Bauman 2010, s. 16]. Sztuka, o której wspomina Bauman, jej ulotność, tymczasowość, czasami wręcz powierzchowność, jest odzwierciedleniem współczesności, a pojęcia takie jak, piękno czy wartość dzieła sztuki, nadal są poddawane wiarygodnej i przekonującej próbie czasu. W Polsce po 1989 r., tj. w okresie transformacji ustrojowej, ulegając zachłyśnięciu się nowością, skutecznie wyeliminowano wiele wartościowych obiektów architektury i sztuki, niektóre przez zwykłe zaniedbanie, inne z powodu ich proweniencji. Jest to spowodowane brakiem świadomości co do wartości obiektów kultury materialnej przez co z pejzażu polskich miast zniknęło bezpowrotnie wiele pereł powojennej architektury modernistycznej. „Choroba braku ciągłości tocząca polską politykę (na szczeblu centralnym i samorządowym każda ekipa musi zaczynać wszystko od nowa) znalazła (…) architektoniczny ekwiwalent. To co nowe jest z zasady lepsze od tego, co było, przez sam fakt, że jest nowe. Na żadną głębszą refl eksję nie ma tu miejsca” [Springer 2016]. Razem z budynkami znikają towarzyszące im, często wybitne, dekoracje ścienne, będące świadectwem minionych czasów. „W Polsce epoki komunizmu od końca lat 50. do 80. powstały monumentalne kompozycje ścienne wykonywane w technikach malarstwa, mozaiki i sgraffi ta. Część z nich była propagandą systemu politycznego – zarówno w formie obrazów i haseł propagandowych, jak i quasi-reklam ówczesnych instytucji, państwowych zakładów przemysłowych i marek, których produkty z reguły nie były w kraju dostępne [Gralińska-Taborek, Kazimierska-Jerzyk 2014]. Z dzisiejszego punktu widzenia – odrzucając wszelkie negatywne konteksty – wiele z nich odznaczało się wysokim poziomem artystycznym. Niejednokrotnie zamawiano je u renomowanych artystów. Do dzisiaj przetrwały te, które wykonano w klasycznych, trwałych technikach, (takich jak sgraffi to czy mozaika) i nie padły ofi arą niszczenia „reliktów z minionej epoki”.

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the role of social activities, which are able to stimulate among the community a sense of responsibility for the material and cultural heritage. It was assumed, that for the local communities the city becomes a kind of the memory space. The phrase, ambience or atmosphere of place, is expressing the mutual connection between inhabitants and their closest environment. That special type of relationship can cause reaction on even slight changes, which are often perceived as possible threat and violation of safety. The starting point for the article was the demolition of the Neptun Cinema building. This action led to the threat of destruction of unique mosaics of Anna Fiszer. The eff ort to save the composition before it’s annihilation has consolidated the various social groups. This situation also realized them the size of negligence in archiving of art in the public space, created in the post-war period and additionally the scale of omission in the area of administrative and legal decisions. In this context one question was posed – what makes that a dynamic developing city forgets to carry out a constructive discussion regarding the protection and presence of art in public space? The article indicates that the social impulse can have a positive effect on endeavor to preserve the most precious objects of art and architecture, and likewise in raising awareness of designers, architects, investors, city authorities and local government as well.

W artykule zaprezentowano słabe miejsca izolacji przeciwwodnej płyty dennej, która stanowi obecnie powszechnie stosowany sposób posadowienia bezpośredniego obiektów budowlanych. Na podstawie własnych doświadczeń do tych miejsc zaliczyliśmy: rysy, przerwy robocze podczas betonowania, styki technologiczne i dylatacje. Podano również sposoby wykonania uszczelnienia tego typu miejsc w trakcie realizacji płyty, jak i w przypadku płyty istniejącej, co jest znacznie trudniejsze.

This paper indicates the weak spots in the waterproofing of the bottom foundation slab which is increasingly used in the shallow foundations of civil structures. On the basis of experiments the authors have identified cracks, concreting phases, construction joints and expansion joints as the weak spots. Exemplary ways of sealing such places during the construction of a bottom slab and in an existing slab, which is more difficult in the latter case, are presented.

W artykule zaprezentowano metody naprawy izolacji przeciwwilgociowej ścian fundamentowych z bloczków betonowych, które są powszechnie stosowane jako tańsze rozwiązanie tradycyjnych betonowych ścian fundamentowych w piwnicach. Scharakteryzowano metody naprawy w zależności od dostępności ścian fundamentowych od wewnątrz i od zewnątrz budynku. Podano przykładowe sposoby napraw izolacji, biorąc pod uwagę analizę ekonomiczną konkretnego rozwiązania oraz skuteczność wykonanej naprawy. Podano ogólne wytyczne dotyczące tego typu naprawy.

The article presents a method of repairing damp proof foundation walls made of concrete blocks, which are widely used as a cheaper alternative to traditional concrete basement foundation walls. The authors propose various methods of repair depending on the availability of foundation walls from the inside and from the outside of the building. Are examples of ways to repair the insulation considering an economic analysis of the effectiveness of specific solutions and repair. Provides general guidelines for this type of repair.

Psychotropic drugs: desipramine, olanzapine and mitrazapine were chromatographed on cyanopropyl-silica and Diol-silica thin layers using various nonaqueous and aqueous eluents.The best results were obtained with addition of ammonia to nonaqueous eluent on both adsorbents. On the basis of the optimization, systems for extraction from human plasma and quantitative determination of investigated drugs were selected.RP18 encaped SPE columns conditioned and pre-eluted with acetonitrile:water:ammonium buffer at pH 8.6 (5:5:2) and eluted with methanol:water (9:1) containing 2% acetic acid were used for sample preparation with high recoveries of all investigated drugs. Diol and CN plates with mixture of 15% methanol in diisopropyl ether + 1% ammonia were used for quantitative analysis by a calibration curve method.
