The paper presents a study of the artistic casting production process starting from a living model. An attempt has been undertaken to develop a technology of creating a copy of human face and head using the materials applied in dental prosthetic. The development of a copying technique for human face and head has been preceded by preparing copies of simpler elements, namely hands and feet. The scope of investigation has included a modification of alginate impression material for the purpose of copying in accordance to the lifecasting method, preparation of an alginate-plaster mould from a living model, then making the plaster replica of the model and secondary silicone-plaster mould. The castings presented in the paper have been finally made of CuSn5Zn5Pb5 tin-zinc-lead bronze by investment casting method. The performed investigative and artistic work has confirmed the suitability of the 'Tropicalgin' material for making a replica of human face according to the lifecasting method. The obtained castings exhibit excellent surface quality despite multiply copying operations.

W artykule przedstawiono studium procesu wytwarzania odlewów artystycznych na podstawie żywego modelu. W pracy podjęto próbę opracowania technologii wykonania kopii twarzy i głowy ludzkiej z wykorzystaniem materiałów stosowanych w protetyce stomatologicznej. Opracowanie techniki kopiowania twarzy i głowy ludzkiej poprzedzono wykonywaniem kopii prostszych elementów, a mianowicie rąk i stóp. Zakres prac badawczych i praktycznych obejmował modyfikację alginatowej masy wyciskowej na potrzeby kopiowania wg metody lifecasting, wykonanie matrycy alginatowo-gipsowej z żywego modelu oraz gipsowego modelu wtórnego i matrycy silikonowo-gipsowej. Prezentowane w pracy odlewy wykonano według technologii wytapianego modelu z brązu cynowo-cynkowo-ołowiowego CuSn5Zn5Pb5. W wyniku przeprowadzonych prac badawczych i praktycznych potwierdzono przydatność masy "Tropicalgin" do aplikacji w wykonywaniu repliki twarzy według metody lifecasting, a otrzymane odlewy pomimo wielokrotnego replikowania wykazują się doskonałą jakością powierzchni.

Decorative coatings artificially obtained on the surfaces of copper castings, commonly called artificial patinas in opposition to natural patinas, allow for adjusting the colour, the gloss, and the colour intensity of a casting to the customer demands. A decorative coating is a part of the artistic casting and the key element to the impression exerted by a sculpture. The colour, the type, and quality of a decorative coating depend on the author's intention, so that an artistic foundry should deal successfully with a variety of demands. Beside exerting the strictly artistic impression, patinas have one more goal to achieve - it is the corrosion protection. Natural patinas arising nowadays are characterised by Iow quality, irregular thickness, numerous cracks, and the dull taupe-brown colour. Therefore there exists need of generating decorative coatings in a controlled way. The present work is aimed to determine the influence of mechanical abrasive working applied to the surfaces of BK331 silicon bronze castings on the quality and durability of the obtained decorative coating for given recipes for patinating solutions.

Powłoki dekoracyjne wytworzone sztucznie na odlewach ze stopów miedzi nazywane potocznie sztucznymi patynami w przeciwieństwie do naturalnej patyny umożliwiają dostosowanie koloru, połysku oraz intensywności barwy odlewu do warunków zamówienia. Powłoki dekoracyjne są częścią odlewu artystycznego i kluczowym elementem decydującym o wrażeniach artystycznych wywoływanych przez rzeźbę. Barwa, rodzaj i jakość powłoki dekoracyjnej zależą od zamiarów autora, a odlewnia artystyczna powinna sprostać tym różnorodnym wymaganiom. Oprócz znaczenia czysto artystycznego patyny mają jedno ważne zadanie do spełnienia - zabezpieczenie przed korozją. Współcześnie powstające naturalne warstewki patyny są niskiej jakości, charakteryzują się nierównomierną grubością, spękaniami oraz nieciekawą szarobrunatną barwą. Stąd istnieje zapotrzebowanie na tworzenie warstw dekoracyjnych w sposób kontrolowany. Niniejsza praca ma na celu określenie wpływu mechanicznej obróbki ściernej powierzchni brązu BK331, na jakość i trwałość wytworzonej powłoki dekoracyjnej oraz podanie receptury jej wykonania.

An attempt of rationalization of the cast iron melting process proceeding in a cupola has been taken on, based on the working parameters recorded during the first several hours of the cupola work. Examinations have been centred around the melting process taking place in a ... 700 hot-blast cupola with a fixed receiver (forehearth). It has been found that a significant reduction in coke consumption is possible due to changes in cupola burdening without a detriment to furnace efficiency or the temperature of molten cast iron.

On the basis of chemical composition and mechanical properties analyses of EN-GJS-500-7 spheroidal graphite cast iron (as per PN-EN 1563 standard), an attempt to determine the relations between the changes in the contents of elements included in alloy (such as: C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Ni, Mo, Cu, Mg), and its tensile strength (R_m), proof stress (R_p0,2), elongation (A_5) and hardness (HB), has been made. Cast iron subjected to the tests came from 291 heats, conducted in one of the domestic foundries. Cast iron was melted in medium-frequency induction furnace, spheroidized with bell method and modified with "in-stream" method. It results from conducted calculations that in a number of cases even small changes of the elements contents lead to statistically significant increases or decreases in examined mechanical properties of cast iron.

An attempt of determining the relationship between changes of quantities of elements in the alloy (such as C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Ni, Cu, Mg) and the basic mechanical properties of the material (Rm, Rp,0,2. A5, HB, KCV) has been undertaken on the basis of data concerning production of ferritic ductile iron of the EN-GJS-400-18U-LT grade (according to PN-EN 1563 Standard) from about 300 heats. The examined cast iron has been produced by one of the domestic foundries in the induction furnace of medium frequency, spheroidized by the plunging method and then modified by the in-stream method while transferring the cast iron from the treatment vessel to the pouring ladle. Castings have been heat treated in order to achieve the fully ferritic structure. The analysis of the collected data has shown that even small changes in content of a series of elements (falling within the limits required for production of the ductile iron) can lead to the statistically significant increases or decreases in mechanical properties of ferritic ductile iron.

The paper presents hardness changes for cast iron with nodular and vermicular graphite, determined within the separately cast test blocks. Investigation has comprised cast irons with similar ferrite and pearlite fractions in the metal matrix. The hardness measurements have been performed by Brinell method for samples taken both from an edge and from the centre of a Y block (for nodular cast iron) or of a reversed U block (in the case of vermicular cast iron). Investigations have pertained both to the test parts and to the sinkheads of the test blocks. Hardness measurements have been completed with metallographic examination.

Przedstawiona ocena zagrożenia użytkowych zbiorników wód podziemnych substancjami ropopochodnymi w rejonie Częstochowy została wykonana na podstawie inwentaryzacji 66 stacji paliwowych, stanowiących potencjalne ogniska zanieczyszczeń. Analiza warunków hydrogeologicznych, geologiczno-inżynierskich i technicznych budowy, a także eksploatacji stacji paliw oraz wizja terenowa umożliwiły sporządzenie listy rankingowej obiektów z uwzględnieniem stopnia zagrożenia dla użytkowych zbiorników wód podziemnych. Wskazano 3 obiekty stanowiące bezpośrednie zagrożenie dla górnojurajskiego poziomu wodonośnego oraz 24 obiekty zagrażające wodom czwartorzędowym (poziom I zagrożenia), gdzie wymagane jest podjęcie natychmiastowych działań zabezpieczających. Zaproponowano strategię działań mających na celu minimalizację zagrożeń wywołanych substancjami ropopochodnymi.

The risk from petrol stations on groundwater reservoirs in Częstochowa Region has been evaluated based on inventory of 66 existing petrol stations that are potential or actual sources of oil-contamination. Analysis of hydrogeological and geotechnical characteristics of sites, technical conditions of the construction and exploitation of petrol stations, together with site investigations allowed to make a ranking list of the objects, with respect to their impact degree to groundwater. There were 3 petrol stations indicated that are directly hazortous to the Upper Jurassic water-bearing horizons and 24 objects affecting the Quaternary aquifers (I level of hazard), where the immediate action is required. The strategy was recommended that should minimise risk to groundwater reservoirs from oil contamination.
