Several advanced techniques for statistical analysis of nominal data were discussed to show how interesting associations between examined variables can be obtained using correspondence analysis, logistic regression and log-linear models. All these techniques are introduced on the example of medical data connected with the patients being on the curative diet. The studied data concerns four nominal variables: breaking the diet, overcoming diseases requiring the curative diet, sex and age of patient. Applied analyses were used for searching which of factors mentioned above influence on breaking the diet. The most popular technique in this case, chi-squared test of independence, indicates that only the age and illnesses overcoming before are related with breaking the diet whereas the sex is factor which does not have any relationship with the diet breaking. However, the deeper analysis revealed that we can not omit this variable in our research. Application of more compound statistical methods show the importance of age and sex in breaking the curative diet in detail. Presented methodology can be successfully applied not only in medicine but to data coming from different branches of science as well.

The aim of this article is the application of flow charts in teaching statistics. It contains three exemplary diagrams concerning the most common tests such as independent one-sample, two-sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance. They present particular steps in process of selection the most relevant test. Hypothesis testing is a powerful tool in science because of the potential to explain causality. Unfortunately students have difficulties in recognition the correct test. Such diagrams could facilitate the understanding and studying statistical rules. All flowcharts presented in this paper have been prepared using the authoring tool called BIT Pathways.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki fragmentów obszernego cyklu badań modelowych ukierunkowanych na określenie optymalnych warunków utrzymywania wyrobisk drążonych poprzez zroby lub też utrzymywanych w zrobach. Prognozy zaciskania wyrobisk jako straty ich przekrojów przedstawiono w tym artykule graficznie w funkcji głębokości ich lokalizacji. Zjawisko wypiętrzania skał w wyrobiskach chodnikowych stanowi poważne utrudnienie w ruchu kopalń. Dla zapewnienia pierwotnych funkcji wyrobisk zachodzi najczęściej konieczność pobierek spągu, a więc poniesienia dodatkowych nakładów na ich utrzymanie, co znacznie zwiększa ogólne koszty produkcji.

The article presents the results of fragments of an extensive cycle of model investigations directed for determination of optimum conditions for maintenance of roadways driven through gob areas or maintained in gobs. The forecasts of working compression as the loss of their cross-section is presented graphically in this article as the function of depth of their location.. The phenomenon of rocks swelling in roadways constitutes a meaningful hardship for operation of the mines. In order to maintain primary functions it is necessary to undercut the floor and thus incurring additional expenditures for the maintenance what considerably increases the general cost of production.

W pracy przedstawiono analizę kosztów związanych ze stosowaniem obudowy ŁP w wyrobiskach przygotowawczych - chodnikach przyścianowych i przecinkach rozruchowych ścian. Jako korzystną alternatywę proponuje się szersze stosowanie nowych rozwiązań obudów o kształcie prostokątnym, charakteryzującym się lepszymi parametrami użytkowymi.

The work discusses analysis of costs associated with application of yielding steel support in preparatory workings, longwall gates and longwalls opening - up crosscuts. It is suggested, as alternative, to more broadly use now solutions of supports with rectangular shape, characterized by better operational parameters.
