Undeformed and deformed samples were collected at the A.D.E.(Associacao Desportiva da Estacao) football field at Covilha, Portugal, for strength and compressibility laboratory tests. It was also performed "in situ" tests - CPT, DPL and DPSH. Strength parameters were estimated using classic correlation. Heterogeneity and local disturbances of the massif generated by the sampling procedure were avoided. Results obtained in laboratory conditions and indirectly by "in situ" tests were compared and a consistent correlation was found on the angle of internal friction (...). Such is due to the cohesion resulting from the bonding of a residual soil.
