Indicating technology is increasingly needed in series development, and is no longer solely a research tool. Time constraints are severe, software must be highly flexible for a wide range of applications and at the same time user-friendly, so that it can belearnt quickly and used productively as soon as possible. This necessitates that indicating must become a standard measuring procedure on the test bed. A closer look to the workflow shows, that a development task is translated into a test procedure. The test run results produced are analysed to provide insight into the developmenttask before the process starts again. With AVL IndiCom test definition and preparation can be carried out oftline (e.g. in the office) , including simulating the hardware and plausibility checks, thus saving valuable test bed time. Measurement tasks are graphically processed and visualised using Parameter-, Formula-, and Sequence Editors, which means the software can be used highly intuitively. User-levels can adapt the functionality to the needs of various user groups with different areas of know-how. The same system that may appear as an easy to use instrument on the test bed, is a highly sophisticated tool for the indicating specialist. IndiCom is an open software that does not have to beused only in conjunction with AVL hardware. This provides a high level of flexibility for customers in various respects.
