Titanium alloys are widely used in various high strength and weight ratio applications, especially at elevated temperatures and increasingly as biomedical components. The formability can be circumvented by superplastic forming at elevated temperature, with its added forming advantages but certain microstructural considerations and processing conditions are required. In addition, at elevated temperatures brings about oxidation problems which deteriorates and consequently limits the formability. The work here presents three examples of strategies to enhance and overcome these problems.
