A dimeric zinc(II) complex [Zn2(AMA)2ź(Phen)4]ź(AMA)2ź14H2O has been synthesized (AMA = 4-aminohippuric acid, Phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, molar conductivity, thermal analysis and X-ray crystal structure determiation. The results of crystal structure show that each Zn(II) ion is coordinated with two oxygen atoms from 4-aminohippuric acid, four nitrogen atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline molecules, forming a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The luminescent properties of the Zn(II) complex in solid were investigated.
