This study is placed in a safety context for the study of the vulnerability of aircrafts. The objective of this work is to investigate the geometry of a tank which contains vapor mixtures of kerosene air, making it possible to simulate on a laboratory scale the explosions of tank of kerosene generated by the impact of a projectile. The experiments are carried out in a cylindrical steel tank. In order to study the propagation of the explosion from one compartment to the other of the tank, a plate presenting a circular opening in its center is perpendiculary placed to the axis of the cylinder. This plate can be positioned at various heights h in order to obtain different volumetric ratios of the compartments. The experimental results show in particular: i) a difference of the maximum pressure of each compartment; ii) and a time delay between the maximum pressures of each compartment; iii) a minimum cross section for which the explosion can be totally transmitted.
