W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań zachowania gruntu i obiektów budowlanych w bliskim sąsiedztwie kilku inwestycji o różnym charakterze oddziaływań, takich jak: głębokie wykopy, drążenie tuneli metra tarczami mechanicznymi oraz wznoszenie budynków. Monitorowany teren znajduje się w ścisłym centrum Warszawy. Badania obejmują pomiary geodezyjne przemieszczeń i deformacji monitorowanych obiektów z wykorzystaniem takich technik, jak: niwelacja precyzyjna, precyzyjne pomiary kątowo-liniowe, skanowanie laserowe. W analizowanym rejonie wykonano kilka modeli numerycznych dotyczących oddziaływania na obiekty sąsiednie, które zostały wykalibrowane na podstawie rezultatów pomiarów przeprowadzonych przed i w trakcie realizacji kolejnych inwestycji. W zakresie analizy oddziaływań nowych inwestycji na istniejące obiekty porównano wyniki monitoringu z wynikami prognoz numerycznych wynikających z przygotowanych modeli.

The paper presents a research sites and results of analysis of behaviour of the ground and structures located within the close neighbourhood of several investment units, characterised by diversified impacts, including: deep excavations, mining the underground railway tunnels using tunnel boring machines and construction of buildings. The monitored site is located within the inner centre of Warsaw. Performed analysis covers geodetic surveys of displacements and deformations of particular objects, using such techniques, as: precise levelling, precise angular and linear surveys, laser scanning. Several numerical models have been developed for the analysed area, concerning the impacts on neighbouring objects; those models were calibrated basing on results of surveys performed before and in the course of implementation of particular investment units. In the field of analysis of impacts of new investments on existing structures, results of monitoring were compared with results of numerical predictions, resulted from developed.

Periodical surveys of concrete structures, performed within geodetic monitoring, may be implemented using laser scanners. Similarly to a tacheometer, the scanner determines spatial co-ordinates (X, Y, Z) of surveyed points, specifying the distance and angles. Besides the speed of operations, the parameter, which mostly differentiates the scanner from the tacheometer, is registration of the 4th co-ordinate – an intensity of reflectance of the returning light signal, emitted by the scanner. The analysis of recorded values of that additional, 4th co-ordinate may be applied in diagnosis of conditions of structures. The paper presents evaluation of possibilities to utilize results of laser scanning for determination of conditions of outer surfaces of construction of a water dam – variations in porosity and resistance of concrete.

The initial concept of the Information Base on Surveying Services for Engineering Investments, presented during the Conference "Geoinformation in Poland" in Warsaw, 2004 resuIted in high interest of experts dealing with geographic information systems, in their wide context. According to authors' intentions, the proposed information base, is to store information concerning tasks implemented in relation to surveying services performed for the needs of building objects. Its basic objective is to present the field of engineering geodesy for the needs of didactic tasks, as well as to distribute proper standards of surveying works. The basic issue, which occurs during development of database structures for data collection, is determination of a set of parameters, which are common for various engineering objects and which allow to search for data following queries asked by the user. Grouping of objects according to their basic features, related not only to object geometry or functionality, but also to surveying works performed during object implementation and exploitation, as well as to developed documentation, is the basic condition of efficient searching and presentation of data. This issue focuses on unification of an object description and development of appropriate dictionaries. The issue of identification of an information unit in the information base will be described in the paper using the example of settlement of surveying services elements due to diversification of objects it is difficuIt to define and distinguish particular works performed by a surveyor; therefore there is no simple opportunity to compare surveying works performed in the course of object implementation.

Periodical surveys of displacements are one of obligatory elements of control measurements and evaluation of safety of water damming up structures. Conditions of a control network are of key importance in the process of dislocation determination. Due to age of structures, which often exceeds 50 years, as wen as due to decreased financial inputs for repairs and conservation, technical conditions, and, therefore, safety of the majority of water damming up constructions in Poland require increased supervision and control. In the case of such objects the modernisation of a control network becomes an important issue - it often happens that such networks have not been renovated since the object construction. At present, there are no formulated and conected rules and procedures concerning network modernisation; some guidelines related to particular cases may be found in literature. There are no general documents - a set of rules concerning modernisation and related to particular elements of a control network and methods of elaboration of survey results, which might be applied depending on the level of network degradation, on equipment of an object with surveying instruments and sensors and on new survey technology. Needs concerning modernisation of control networks, described in the paper, are based on examples conected during surveys of control networks for water dams and water power stations, as well as during site visits to other similar objects, discussions with experts dealing with supervision of surveys of control networks and with surveyors who performed such surveys.

Displacement of an object is defined as a change of location of particular elements of that object with respect to a reference system, within a specified period. The above definition is applicable with respect to surveys of engineering objects; interpretation of this definition with respect to changing landscape elements is the reason for various problems and uncertainties. The paper describes issues related to definition of borders of a landscape form and to performance of control measurements. The described form is a migrating dune, which displacements in annual cycles have been determined since the beginning of the eighties. Source materials used for delineation of shape changes of a dune may include various types of measurements: tachymetric, GPS, as wen as measurements performed with the use of aerial and satellite photographs. Following the development of computer graphics technology, as wen as geographic information software, new possibilities anowing to present results of measurements and to perform various types of analyses, have occurred. This allows to perform deep investigations and analyses and to forecast changes which may appear within an investigated area. The paper also describes diversification of displacements and changes of shapes of a migrating terrain form.

Geodesy in the collective perception is understood as an activity consisiting in studying the Earth's shape, geodetic networks establishing, mapping, border marking and real estate recording. The know ledge about input and possibilities of geodesy in building investments' realization process, as well as in construction of large machines and installations, is relatively modest even among interested building specialists. These structures are usually closely connected with geographical space and they have an important influence on social and biological environment of the region (e.g. hydroelectric power station - provides both employment and power, at the same time being a serious danger in case of natural calamity or damage of control system) - so information about them is connected in many aspects with geoinformation and with space information systems as far as technology of realization of geodetic and cartographic studies and exploitation of geodesic tools (like methodology,measurement technology, instrument technology are concerned. The goal of the project, being realized by the Institute of Engeneering and Industrial Geodesy of Warsaw University of Technology, is to create a prototype database of building structures, which are typical from the point of view of the tasks of engineering geodesy. These are structures as follows: architectural (i.e. buildings, shopping centers, renovation and reconstruction of historical objects) transport (i.e. roads, overpasses, train infrastructure, tunnels, bridges, airports) hydrotechnical (i.e. dams, hydroelectric power stations) machines and installations (i.e. turbines, gantries, rotary furnaces, ships, airplanes). Creation of a database is going to be preceded by studies on preparing uniform methodology of presenting consecutive stages of geodetic works for various objects as described above. The database is expected to be available by internet and is planed to be filled with the information collected from geodesic companies, which would like to present their realizations as well as from owners and users of engineering structures. Examples of modern solutions in the area of geodetic services for engineering investments realization is supposed to create a base for changes in the methods of teaching and presenting these issues in The Geodesy and Cartography Department of Warsaw University of Technology and in other Departments interested in such problems.
