The paper decribes two different ways of communication between a database and the Internet. The first one leads through Common Gateway Interface scripts, interpreted by the web server. The provided example code is written in Pearl, and can be implemented in Unix or Windows NT. The second solution is Internet Database Connector, which allows to write interesting, but limited to the certain extent applications. Both ways are commonly used worldwide. In the last part of the paper, there is an attempt to evaluate presented solutions, which ends up with a conclusion in favour of IDC.
