In this article a voltage source inverter (VSI) is developed for use in pulse width modulation (PWM) speed control systems for three phase ac motors. This system uses the technique of sine-wave modulation and employs a purpose-designed L.S.I circuit for PMW generation. A constant torque control scheme is employed in order to keep the air-gap flux and consequently the motor output torque constant. Steady state and transient behavior performance of our system is investigated. Experimental results are also being presented.

Content available remote Sliding Mode Speed Controller for a Vector Controlled Double Star Induction Motor

This paper presents a speed sliding mode controller for a vector controlled (FOC) double star induction motor (DSIM) fed by a two pulse width modulation voltage source inverters. The machine has two sets of three-phase windings which are spatially phase shifted by 30 electrical degrees with isolated neutrals. The sliding mode control (SMC) is used to achieve robust performance against parameter variations and external disturbances. The problem with this conventional controller is that it has large chattering on the torque and the drive is very noisy. In order to reduce a torque ripple, the sign function is used. The proposed algorithm was simulated by Matlab/Simulink software and simulation results show that the performance of the control scheme is robust and the chattering problem is solved.

Zaprezentowano sterownik ślizgowy silnika indukcyjnego DSIM zasilanego z przekształtnika dwu-pulsowego z modulacją napięcia. Sterpownik taki zastosowano dla uzyskania odporności na zewnętrzne zakłócenia.

The aim of this paper is to propose a robust control method for a doubly-fed induction generator fed by a direct AC-AC converter used in wind energy conversion systems. First, we carried out a study of modelling on the matrix converter controlled by the venturini modulation technique. Thereafter, stator active and reactive powers are regulated by controlling the machine inverter with two different controllers : proportional–integral and Sliding mode. Simulations results are presented and discussed for the whole system.

W artykule opisano metodę sterowania dla generatora indukcyjnego o zasilaniu dwustronnym z przekształtnika matrycowego (ACAC) w aplikacji do turbiny wiatrowej. Przedstawiono model przekształtnika matrycowego o modulacji metodą venturini oraz wyniki badań symulacyjnych.

Harmonic Elimination Strategy (HES) has been a widely researched alternative to traditional PWM techniques. This paper presents the harmonic elimination strategy of a Uniform Step Asymmetrical Multilevel Inverter (USAMI) using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which eliminates specified higher order harmonics while maintaining the required fundamental voltage. This method can be applied to USAMI with any number of levels. As an example, in this paper a seven-level USAMI is considered and the optimum switching angles are calculated to eliminate the fifth and seventh harmonics. The HES-PSO approach is compared to the well-known Sinusoidal Pulse-Width Modulation (SPWM) strategy. Simulation results demonstrate the better performances and technical advantages of the HES-PSO controller in feeding an asynchronous machine. Indeed, the harmonic distortions are efficiently cancelled providing thus an optimized control signal for the asynchronous machine. Moreover, the technique presented here substantially reduces the torque undulations.

W artykule zaprezentowano strategię eliminacji harmonicznych HES w przekształtniku wielopoziomowym asymetrycznym USAMI. Wykorzystano metodę algorytmów rojowych i porównano tę metodę z klasyczną metoda PWM.
