ISO 37001 system as a tool to meet anti-corruption requirements in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector

Purpose: The aim of the publication is to present the specificity of the phenomenon of corruption, its complexity, methods, universality and destructive impact on the implementation of the basic statutory tasks of companies. Indication of a very high risk for management boards and employees of entire companies in the area of corruption. The aim is to present the basics of building an anti-corruption system and to show the possibilities of protection against the destructive effects of corruption. Design/methodology/approach: Indicating the requirements of the ISO 37001 standard as a tool supporting the introduction of good anti-corruption practices into the corporate culture. Findings: The ISO 37001 standard is an effective tool to introduce a systemic approach to preventing corruption in an organization. Research limitations/implications: Currently, there is no access to information on how many small and medium-sized enterprises have taken up the topic of introducing anti-corruption practices in their organizations. Practical implications: The publication indicates specific solutions that should be taken by small entrepreneurs to prevent corruption in their organization. Social implications: The publication in its message points out that anti-corruption activities not only concern politics or the sphere of large business, but also it is an important topic that should be paid attention to in small and medium-sized enterprises. Originality/value: The publication indicates the specific requirements of the ISO 37001 standard and the possibility of its implementation also in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises.

W artykule omówiono wymagania i efekty wdrażania i stosowania usystematyzowanych standardów zarządzania środowiskowego w branży logistycznej w oparciu o standard ISO 14001. Zwrócono uwagę, iż standard zarządzania środowiskowego coraz częściej jest wdrażany w przedsiębiorstwach transportowych. Wymagania prawne oraz standard zarządzania środowiskowego poprawiają efektywność dbania o środowisko, podnoszą świadomość proekologiczną oraz wzbudzają zaufanie wśród kooperantów. Standard ISO 14001 dotyczy zarówno dużych międzynarodowych przewoźników jak i małych firm transportowych.

The environmental management system according to PN-EN ISO 14001: 2015 [1] is a system whose message is to protect the natural environment. The environmental management system focuses mainly on reducing waste, possibilities and methods of waste disposal, preventing pollution, reducing the use of natural resources, and in the context of the transport industry, reducing emissions. The idea of the system is continuous improvement of activities related to the protection of the natural environment - through identification of threats, risk assessment and mobilization of enterprises to comply with the requirements of law in the field of environmental protection. For many years, the transport industry has been governed by its laws. However, with the changing market, where apart from large transport concerns, there are also small and micro companies providing transport services that also have an impact on the environment in individual parts of the transport industry. There are more and more entrepreneurs, both Polish and foreign, specializing in the transport industry, hence legal regulations, EU regulations and industry standards or standards aimed at reducing the impact of transport on the natural environment appear. It seems that as of today, mobilizing enterprises of various sizes to implement unified rules, reduce emissions, oversee waste, implement unified management systems, including environmental management systems, is the most effective method of impacting the improvement of environmental protection in this area.

W artykule omówiono wymagania systemów zarządzania ISO 9001. ISO 14001 oraz ISO 45001 w zakresie wprowadzania przeglądów zarządzania. Zwrócono uwagę, jakie elementy systemowe powinny być analizowane oraz jakich narzędzi do tych analiz używają firmy branży transportowej. Wymagane standardami analizy i okresowe przeglądy przekładają się na jakość zarządzania zarówno w dużych międzynarodowych firmach transportowych, jak i wśród małych przewoźników posiadających systemy zarządzania.

The article discusses the requirements of management systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 for conducting management reviews. It was pointed out which system elements should be analyzed and what tools are used for these analyses by transport industry companies. The analyses and periodic reviews required by the standards translate into the quality of management both in large international transport companies and among small carriers using management systems.
