W artykule opisano na przykładzie istniejącego obiektu gospodarczego z 1903 roku problem dotyczący sprawdzenia wytrzymałości stalowych i żeliwnych elementów konstrukcji stropu w obecnych czasach. Stan wytężenia żeliwnych słupów i stalowych belek, znajdujących się w analizowanym obiekcie, sprawdzono metodą naprężeń dopuszczalnych obowiązującą na początku XX wieku, a belek pośrednich i podciągu obliczono metodą stanów granicznych według eurokodów obowiązujących obecnie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy stwierdzono, że ocena poziomu bezpieczeństwa przekrojów belek zaprojektowanych metodą naprężeń dopuszczalnych jest zbliżona do otrzymanej w metodzie stanów granicznych.

Using the example of an existing outbuilding from 1903, the article describes problem related to verification of strength of steel and cast iron elements of ceiling construction in present times. The state of effort of cast iron columns and steel beams existing in the analysed facility has been checked using the allowable stress method, used in the beginning of the 20th century, whereas the state of intermediate beams and binding joist has been calculated using the borderline state method, according to currently used eurocodes. The conducted analysis revealed that the assessment of the safety level of cross-sections of beams designed using the allowable stress method is similar to the assessment achieved in the borderline state method.
