Inoceramid stratigraphy and depositional architecture of the Campanian and Maastrichtian of the Miechów Synclinorium (southern Poland)

Dynamic evolution of the Campanian and Maastrichtian (Upper Cretaceous) of the Miechów Synclinorium is presented. Through chronostratigraphic analysis, the geometry of the Campanian and Maastrichtian of the area is interpreted, while microfacies analysis allowed determination of some of the paleoenvironmental parameters (rate of sedimentation, bottom condition and terrigenous input). The chronostratigraphy is based on inoceramid biostratigraphy. Nine inoceramid zones are recognized: Sphenoceramus patootensiformis, Sphaeroceramus sarumensis-Cataceramus dariensis and ‘Inoceramus’ azerbaydjanensis-‘Inoceramus’ vorhelmensis, ‘Inoceramus’ tenuilineatus, Sphaeroceramus pertenuiformis, ‘Inoceramus’ inkermanensis and ‘Inoceramus’ costaecus-‘Inoceramus’ redbirdensis (Campanian); Endocostea typica and Trochoceramus radiosus (Maastrichtian). Five unconformities (isochronous in the study area) represented by horizons of slower sedimentation rate, were recognized. They correlate with eustatic sea-level changes, well recorded in European successions (Jarvis et al. 2002, 2006; Niebuhr et al. 2011). Unconformity horizons allow six alloformations to be distinguished. The thickness of particular chronostratigraphic units within the Campanian and Lower Maastrichtian increases progressively toward the axis of the Danish-Polish Trough, which indicates that the inversion of the trough could not have started before the Late Maastrichtian.

Titanium dioxide thin films were prepared using two types of magnetron sputtering processes: conventional and with modulated plasma. The films were deposited on SiO2 and Si substrates. X-ray diffraction measurements of prepared coatings revealed that the films prepared using both methods were nanocrystalline. However, the coatings deposited using conventional magnetron sputtering had anatase structure, while application of sputtering with modulated plasma made possible to obtain films with rutile phase. Investigations performed with the aid of scanning electron microscope showed significant difference in the surface morphology as well as the microstructure at the thin film cross-sections. The mechanical properties of the obtained coatings were determined on the basis of nanoindentation and abrasion resistance tests. The hardness was much higher for the films with the rutile structure, while the scratch resistance was similar in both cases. Optical properties were evaluated on the basis of transmittance measurements and showed that both coatings were well transparent in a visible wavelength range. Refractive index and extinction coefficient were higher for TiO2 with rutile structure.

The stratigraphical distribution of Porosphaera globularis, a common calcareous sponge in the Upper Cretaceous (mostly Campanian and Maastrichtian) of Poland was studied. The presented material, both new and from museum collections, comes from the Campanian of the Miechów Synclinorium, in southern Poland, and from the Lower Campanian of Mielnik in the south-eastern part of the Mazury-Podlasie Homocline, in eastern Poland. The significance of the species in extra-regional correlation, its palaeobiogeography and stratigraphical potential is critically reviewed.

The trace fossil Lepidenteron lewesiensis (Mantell, 1822) from the Upper Cretaceous of southern Poland

Lepidenteron lewesiensis (Mantell, 1822) is an unbranched trace fossil lined with small fish scales and bones, without a constructed wall. It is characteristic of the Upper Cretaceous epicontinental, mostly marly sediments in Europe. In the Miechów Segment of the Szczecin-Miechów Synclinorium in southern Poland, it occurs in the Upper Campanian–Lower Maastrichtian deeper shelf sediments, which were deposited below wave base and are characterized by total bioturbation and a trace fossil assemblage comprising Planolites, Palaeophycus, Thalassinoides, Trichichnus, Phycosiphon, Zoophycos and Helicodromites that is typical of the transition from the distal Cruziana to the Zoophycos ichnofacies. L. lewesiensis was produced by a burrowing predator or scavenger of fishes. The tracemaker candidates could be eunicid polychaetes or anguillid fishes.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów dostępności określonej wartości błędu współrzędnych, wyznaczonych przy wykorzystaniu sieci ASG-EUPOS, uzyskane podczas pomiarów inwentaryzacyjnych testowego odcinka linii kolejowej. Pomiary z wykorzystaniem 4 odbiorników GNSS przeprowadzono w miesiącu lutym bieżącego roku na odcinku trasy kolejowej: Kościerzyna – Kartuzy. Program badań zakładał montaż, na pokładzie platformy kolejowej napędzanej przez drezynę elektryczną, czterech zestawów pomiarowych odbiorników fazowych GPS System 1200 (Leica) wykorzystujących, dla wyznaczeń współrzędnych, Aktywną Sieć Geodezyjną EUPOS. Pomiary wykonano metodą RTK w serwisie czasu rzeczywistego NAWGEO przy wykorzystaniu poprawek powierzchniowych. W wyniku pomiarów uzyskano blisko 40 000 wyznaczeń współrzędnych każdej z anten. Artykuł przedstawia metodę realizacji pomiarów, matematyczny model wyznaczania dostępności określonej wartości błędu współrzędnych, który zastosowano do opracowania rezultatów, prezentując funkcje oraz graniczne wartości dostępności, przy założeniu progu decyzji pomiędzy stanem zdatności i niezdatności wynoszącym 10 cm. Ponadto w publikacji wskazano na obszary poznawcze w zakresie dalszych kierunków badań eksperymentalnych.

The paper presents the research results of availability of defined coordinates error value, determined with the use of ASG-EUPOS network, during surveying measurements of a test railroad section. The experimental measurements with four sets of receivers GNSS were carried out on Kościerzyna-Kartuzy railway route, in February this year. The research program assumed installation of four sets of phase receivers GPS System 1200 (Leica), which used Active Geodetic Network EUPOS to calculate coordinates. The sets were installed on board of railroad platform driven by an electric trolley. The measurements were carried out by Real Time Kinematic method with NAWGEO surface correction. As a result of measurements, there were almost 40,000 coordinates determined for each of the antennas. The paper presents the procedure of measurements and the model of mathematical calculation of availability of defined coordinates error value, which was used in results analyses. It also presents the functions and border values of availability, based on the assumption of the decision threshold between the ability and disability states amounting to 10 cm. Moreover, the article indicates cognitive areas of further directions of experimental research.

The conclusions derived from tests are the basis for further works aiming at usage and implementation of special information system for investment connected with construction sport objects in Gdańsk with respect to EURO 2012.

W referacie zaprezentowano charakterystykę eksploatacyjną stacji referencyjnej satelitarnych systemów nawigacyjnych GPS/GLONASS, którą uruchomiono w Zakładzie Geodezji Politechniki Gdańskiej. Autorzy, jako uczestnicy przedsięwzięcia, prezentują doświadczenia ze zrealizowanych pomiarów i wskazują możliwości wykorzystania danych pozyskanych przez GNSS GDPG w systemie informacyjnym w ramach zadań wykorzystujących odniesienie przestrzenne jako istotną informację w geodezji, systemach informacji przestrzennej, nawigacji, telekomunikacji, bezpieczeństwie i innych dziedzinach życia.

The report describes procedure for launching of GNSS GDPG reference station located in Gdańsk University of Technology. The authors, as participants of the enterprise, present experiences from measurements realized and indicate possibilities for usage of data acquired by GNSS GDPG as an element of information system in the scope of tasks using special reference as crucial information in geodesy, special information systems, navigation, telecommunication, safety and other aspects of life.

Dostosowanie przestrzeni miejskiej do możliwości ludzi niepełnosprawnych uznano w większości krajów świata za obowiązek. W Polsce dopiero na początku lat osiemdziesiątych zwrócono uwagę na konieczność zapewnienia osobom niepełnosprawnym możliwości samodzielnego poruszania się w obszarach zurbanizowanych [2]. Dzisiaj takie projektowanie przestrzeni miejskiej, by mogli z niej korzystać wszyscy użytkownicy, jest już oczywiste. W 1994 roku w ustawie o zagospodarowaniu przestrzennym i ustawie Prawo Budowlane pojawiły się na ten temat pierwsze regulacje prawne. Następuje stopniowa zmiana spojrzenia na niepełnosprawność; przestaje ona być postrzegana jako stan chorobowy i wyrok skazujący na beznadziejną wegetację pod opieką innych osób. Dostrzega się nareszcie i w Polsce, że osoby niepełnosprawne chcą i mogą się w życiu realizować, kształcić, mogą podejmować pracę zgodną z ich wykształceniem i pełnić te same role społeczne jak osoby pełnosprawne. Niestety, wiele jest jeszcze barier kulturowych, społecznych, i urbanistyczno-architektonicznych, które spowalniają integrację społeczną tych osób z resztą społeczeństwa. Niestety, owa integracja nie tylko przebiega powoli, ale i napotyka na wiele trudności. O ile wykorzenienie uprzedzeń społecznych w stosunku do osób niepełnosprawnych jest procesem długotrwałym i trudnym, o tyle usuwanie barier przestrzennych i udostępnianie w coraz większym stopniu miejskiego środowiska mieszkalnego [1], [4] przez projektantów różnych dziedzin, w tym planistów przestrzennych i urbanistów, jest możliwe. Jednym ze sposobów dostosowywania przestrzeni miejskiej do potrzeb osób niepełnosprawnych jest wprowadzanie zasad "projektowania uniwersalnego" do architektury, planowania przestrzennego i projektowania przedmiotów codziennego użytku.

The adaptation of urban space to the potentiality of disabled persons has been recognized as a duty in many countries. The introduction of the principles of "universal designing" into architecture, spatial planning into designing, as well as into objects of everyday use, gives an opportunity of creating such a habitation environment which all users will be able to exploit on the grounds of equal rights. "Universal designing" is the designing of products and elements of the environment in such a way that they may be used by all people in as wide a range as possible, without the need of adaptation or special solutions. "Universal designing" is against all unnecessary and discriminating specific solutions, whether they are directed to individual disabled persons or social groups. Equal status, equal treatment and equal values for everyone - this is the key assumption. "Universal designing" emphasises the fact that all buildings, products and other elements of the habitation environment should be designed in such a way that everyone can use them: children, elderly people, people of different capabilities and possibilities, fully capable and disabled. The ideal which should be aspired to, is the situation when all people have the same potentialities of taking part in different spheres of life: learning, working and the spending of free time.
