W pracy wykorzystano oprogramowanie ANSYS Fluent 18.1 do numerycznego modelowania pożaru powierzchniowego. Model CFD wymagał numerycznego rozwiązania równań bilansu masy, pędu, zmodyfikowanego modelu turbulencji SAS, energii oraz bilansu składników. Wyniki uzyskane z numerycznej symulacji wycieku skroplonego gazu LNG w postaci profili temperatury, intensywności emitowanego przez spalany gaz promieniowania cieplnego oraz stężenia produktów spalania posłużyły do oceny skutków takiego pożaru.

In the presented paper, commercial CFD code ANSYS FLUENT 18.1 has been used to curry out the numerical simulation of LNG pool fire. The applied CFD model required to solve numerically: continuity and momentum equations together with enhanced two-equation turbulence model (SAS), and also energy and components balance equations. The results obtained in numerical simulation such as temperature, incident heat radiation and reagent concentration profiles were used in assessment of a risk of LNG pool fire.
A mathematical model of waste tyre pyrolysis process is developed in this work. Tyre material decomposition based on a simplified reaction mechanism leads to main product lumps: noncondensable (gas), condensable (pyrolytic oil) and solid (char). The model takes into account kinetics of heat and mass transfer in the grain of the shredded rubber material as well as surrounding gas phase. The main reaction routes were modelled as the pseudo-first order reactions with a rate constant calculated from the Arrhenius type equation using literature values of activation energy determined for main tyre constituents based on TG/DTG measurements and tuned pre-exponential parameter values obtained by fitting theoretical predictions to the experimental results obtained in our laboratory reactor. The model was implemented within the CFD software (ANSYS Fluent). The results of numerical simulation of the pyrolysis process revealed non-uniformity of sample’s porosity and temperature. The simulation predictions were in satisfactory agreement with the experimentally measured mass loss of the tyre sample during pyrolysis process investigated in a laboratory reactor.

A mathematical model of the pyrolysis process of rubber wastes composed of used tires is presented in the paper. The model predictions based on kinetic parameters obtained from TG/DTG analysis are in satisfactory agreement with the laboratory measurements, in which shred tire samples of a few millimeters in diameter were used. The calculations carried out for larger particles (of a few centimeters), typical for industrial shredders, indicate a possible divergence of “homogeneous models” predictions with the experiment due to heat and mass transfer resistance and tire inhomogeneity during the pyrolysis.

Określono optymalną lokalizację napływu strug oraz ich natężenia !epływu.

Numerical simulation of bubble formation process from a stagnant nozzle immersed in a quiescent liquid (water) and from a nozzle located on a rotating cylinder set in a cross-flowing liquid was performed with the aid of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. Solution of momentum balance equations was coupled with VOF algorithm for tracking the gas-liquid interface in 2D and 3D domains. The results of the simulation are compared with the experimental data obtained from a high-speed video camera observation. The agreement was favourable in the case of rotating nozzle. In the case of a stationary nozzle, the VOF algorithm seems to perform best when the process is dominated by inertial forces (higher gas flow rates).

Results of a numerical simulation of the bubble formation process obtained with the aid of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach are presented. A solution of the momentum balance (Navier-Stokes) equations was coupled with the volume of fluid (VOF) algorithm for tracking the gas-liquid interface in 2D and 3D domains. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data regarding the influence of gas flow rate on the bubble formation regime and volume of the produced bubbles in a low-viscosity system (air-water). As the simulation results are in agreement with the experimental observations, the VOF algorithm is found to be a valuable tool for studying the phenomena of gas-liquid interaction.

A numerical study of cavitation within a centrifugal pump was conducted using Fluent 6.1. The goal of the study was to investigate the ability of a new multiphase mixture cavitation model to predict the onset of cavitation withing the pump blading. Steady-state calculations were performed for a range of flowrates without cavitation to examine the pump performance. Comparisons of head rise with the available data showed very good agreement. Both the inception and subsequent reduction in pump head were found to be in good agreement with the data.

Numerical simulation of fluid flow can be widely used in water treatment processes. The uses where numerical simulation of fluid flow (CFD method) is applicable are reviewed. CFD software provides the users with information about fluid flow (velocity profile, pressure profile), heat transfer (temperature profile) and mass transfer (pollutants, chemical reactions, concentration profiles) in real water treatment systems by numerical solution of the momentum, energy and mass equations. The CFD method is very useful in the analysis of fluid flow machineries, in troubleshooting and parametric studies.
