The article is presenting a consecutive part of my doctor's thesis entitled Witold Rubczyński as a Philosopher and Historiographer of the Philosophy. The first part entitled Study on the Character -Sketch of Witold Rubczyński (1864-1938), was published in the columns of 'Quarterly Joumal of the History of Science and Technology' 2006 no 3-4. Herewithin I am willing to present Rubczyński's conceptions concerning historiog- raphy of the philosophy, comprehensive understanding the domain, its subject, aim, and research methods. Undoubtedly, a way of understanding the philosophy to a high degree determines essence of the notions. That is why in the beginning I am presenting Rubczyński's conceptions concerning the domain and its history. A whole is focusing on the central point of the conceptions that shapes a kind of enunciation about intellectual, moral and aesthetic development in the spirituallife of the society. Structure of the presentation reveals a philosophical system that was created by Rubczyński according to the real idealism principles. In compliance with real idealism, a starting point for the philosophy should be epistemolo- gy that is establishing a theory of behaviour -ethics, which is not only resulting from the moral life facts, but is also formulating enunciations con- cerning both obligations and laws that determine the reality. These ethical enunciations have hypothetical nature solely (perfect element). And metaphysics is to bring the enun- ciations to the highest degree of probability on the ground of exact sciences' results (real element). In Rubczyński's opinion, history of philosophy is a kind of continuous progress of ideas that tends towards a fuller recognition of natural order of the reality. Historiography of the philosophy is not only to present the conceptions, but also to show their development, and its elements against a background of the spirituallife as a whole. This fact, then, is firmly connected with a necessity of taking up scientific research with insight and great care.

This article is presenting a part of my doctor's thesis entitled Witold Rubczyński as a Philosopher and Historiographer of the Philosophy, and written under direction of professor Stanisław A. Porębski. A conferment of my doctor's degree took place on November 17, 2005 in the University of Kardynał Stefan Wyszyński in Warsaw. The reviewers to my doctor's thesis were: professor Władysław Seńko and professor Jan Sochoń, priest. A subject of the dissertation is person and work of Witold Rubczyński -a professor of philosophy. The paper is based on the analyses of the available objective and subjective bibliography, and Polish and foreign publications that are thematically connected with the discussed issues. The separate source are the materials coming from Rubczyński's Archives that were preserved in Jagellonian Library. Their scientific description was published in the columns of Annex that was added to the dissertation. In the introduction to the article I am presenting intent, subject, structure and contents of the monograph. Moreover, the published scientific bibliography of Rubczyński not only makes numerous additions to the hitherto existing critical analyses, but also rectifies many mis -statements that are included in them. In the part entitled 'Results of the Research Work' I am willing to point out the role and significance of the author of Philosophy of the Spiritual Life in the interwar period, and his share in the development of historiography of the philosophy in Poland. While treating of a not very ample objective bibliography, I am concentrating on the fact that a pioneer of the Polish philosophical medieval studies was forgotten. I am also focusing on the issues concerning the interpretation of his views. The main reason for the facts that are mentioned above is, in my opinion, a lack of the comprehensive critical analysis of the scientific output of Rubczyński. Both subjective and objective bibliography was added to the article.
