A review is given on the catalytic oxidative destruction of HVOC-s in air streams. The survey of the literature shows, that there are three groups of catalysts which were tested: mixed metal oxides, supported noble metals and metal loaded zeolites. In the first group, TiO2 and TiO2/V2O5 seem to be very promising. In the group of supported noble metals, authors report also their own results with a Ru catalysts on a TiO2 containing support (support manufactured at the TU Wrocław). That catalyst had almost complete conversion of TCE at 400o C for 100 hours. The most of the chlorine content was converted into HCL and no loss of Ru could be detected after 100 hours of use. Metal loaded zeolites, especially Cr-Y zeolites are also promising. Catalytic oxidation of HVOC-s under the conditions of synthesis-gas manufacture is also mentioned. In spite of many promising results the long term stability of these catalysts has not been thoroughly investigated (or not reported) yet, which explains the lack of information on industrial applications.
