Nowoczesne metody obliczeniowe być stosowane mogą z powodzeniem nie tylko do projektowania nowych urządzeń i maszyn, ale również mogą posłużyć jako narzędzie do analizy już istniejących obiektów. Jedną z takich metod jest metoda elementów skończonych, która nie tylko pomaga w dokładnym określeniu naprężeń i odkształceń występujących w ustroju nośnym, ale również może posłużyć do oceny konstrukcji i potwierdzić jej przydatność do dalszej pracy. Dodatkowe pomiary naprężeń na rzeczywistym obiekcie pozwalają zweryfikować przyjęty model.

The article described the use of modern calculation methods applied in analyses of the existing objects. One of such methods is the FEM, which helps to define precisely the stress in the load capacity system, its deformation, it can also help to estimate the construction and confirm its usefulness in the further work. The practical use of the FEM applied in the long operated overhead cranes (capacity Q=75 t) in hydroelectric power station was also discussed. The results of the calculations were compared with, the results of tensometric research of the real object, which was used to verify the assumed calculating model, estimating the construction and confirmed its usefulness in the further work.
