The present-day state of affairs concerning wastes management in Ukraine is described, and the ways of solving the problems are shown. In the first place, it is wastes minimization by means of their reduction at formation place and reuse. The development of systems of sorting (in the formation place and also central sorting), recycling and composting is of great importance.

The expediency of priority development of alternative fuels manufacture in national economy is shown. Prospects of energy and technology processing of a household waste and application for these purposes of plasma technologies are discussed. For an optimum choice of processes of gasification of carbon containing raw materials it is important to optimize process from the point of view of minimization of additional power expenses at the maximum exit of desirable products of gasification and the minimum damage for environment.

There are 572 sanitary waste landfills in the Lviv Oblast, 52 out of which are city and 519 - rural. They occupy the territory of about 350 ha. Most grounds exploited with violation of burial place of wastes technology and without the preventive measures against environment contamination. To improve the situation Lviv Oblast State administration is bring into action the Regional program of municipal wastes handling on a period of 2006-2015 years, the main purpose of which is embodiment of new conception into municipal wastes handling practice, the essence of which is wastes control necessity on all stages of their life cycle.

Lot of an oil, gas, coal and other technological (sanitary waste landfills, quarries etc.) objects at near border territories of Ukraine are situated. During tens of last years the activity of those objects was provided not in full accordance to demands of nature conservation and in several cases caused the no controlled ecology parameters decreasing. The complex providing of ecological safety of technological objects for progressive development of near border territories are proposed. The results of researches of water, ground and air pollution by some of Lviv region objects are presented.

According to "Polish-Ukrainian Centrum of cooperation for control of landfill gas" (Neighborhood Program PL-BU-UA INTERREG IIIA/TACIS CBC) international project at Lviv SWL (Sanitary Waste Landfill) pre-production research model of gas withdrawal to landfill gas emission conducting is under construction, the testing of prepositional degassing method at Lviv SWL area, the putting to trial construction of degassing boreholes, modern technologies of SWL management and degassing presentation for utility representatives.
