The performance of the mathanol fuel cell with different construction of electrodes and membrane types was investigated. The carbon powders mixed with Pt catalyst and Nafion-like proton conducting polymer were used as the basic components of the electrode systems. The Nafion and other synthetised polymers were used as the fuel cell membranes. The cell was supplied with the methanol - water gaseous mixture and oxygen, respectively to the anode and cathode compartments. The cell components and the work of the particular cell were characterized by the cell current density - voltage characteristics and by the power output in function of methanol flow and cell temperature. The conditions for the best cell performance were presented and discussed.

Wykonano badania ogniwa paliwowego z bezpośrednim utlenianiem metanolu dla różnych mambran stałych elekrolitów polimerowych i różnych konstrukcji elektrod. Jako podstawowe materiały układu ogniwa stosowano proszki węglowe, zmieszane z katalizatorem platynowym oraz polimery protonowo przewodzące. Jako membranę - elektrolt w ogniwie, stosowano Nafion oraz inne polimery syntetyczne. Ogniwo było zasilane gazową mieszaniną metanolu i wody (anoda) oraz tlenu (katoda). Praca poszczególnych ogniw i ich części składowych była charakteryzowana przez zależności napięcia ogniwa, gęstości prądu i gęstości mocy w funkcji przepływu reagentów i temperatury. Przedstawiono warunki dla optymalnej pracy badanego ogniwa metanolowego.
