W niniejszym artykule podjęto zagadnienie ryzyka zanieczyszczenia kompostów przez trwałe zanieczyszczenia organiczne (TZO). Celem było wskazanie źródeł tych substancji w produkcie oraz ustalenie formalno-prawnych wytycznych dla poprawy bezpieczeństwa kompostów z odpadów.

Waste composts can be efficient plant fertilizers however potential presence of toxic substances makes it necessary to control of its applicant to soil. Major organic contaminants in such products are: dioxins, polycyclic aromatic carbons and polychlorinated bifenyls. They are highly persistent in the environment, bioaccumulative and toxic. Despite this selective waste collection, good technology practice and reasonable law regulatory can support quality management of composts. Thanks to that even permanent organic contaminants can appear at the safe level in composts.

As the supply of urban lawn grass‘ irrigation is expensive and laborious it is important to fi nd other methods which are eff ective against the water defi ciency. The aim of the study was therefore the assessment of hydrogels‘ infl uence on the the most common grass species (Festuca rubra, Festuca ovina, Lollium perenne) which were cultivated under controlled drought stress. Results indicated that this watersorbent increased the germination, growth and dry matter content of tested species. It was therefore concluded that using hydrogels on grasslands seems to be reasonable in accordance to the water defi ciency problems.
