A rectangular plate is embedded into a flat infinite baffe. The plate's edges are all simply supported. Some effective approximate formulations have been used to determine the values of the self-and mutual-power. The total sound power radiated has been expressed in the form of a series of the selfand mutual-power of the acoustic system discussed. All the theoretical computations have been realized in the case when a part of the plate's area is excited only. All the results presented will further be used for an analysis of the sound power radiated by the enclosure of a power transformer.

The total sound power has been analyzed theoretically as well as experimentally to verify the validity of some effective approximate formulations obtained purely analytically. The acoustic system discussed covers an annular plate embedded into a flat infinite baffe. The external edge of the piąte is elastically supported, but cannot make any transverse deflections. The internal edge is clamped rigidly into a roller which vibrated harmonically with a known velocity. The modal analysis of some axissymmetric vibrations has been used for the whole theoretical analysis. Some effective approximate methods have been used to determine the values of the self- and mutualpower. The validity of the theoretical results obtained has been verified by some measurements madę in an anechoic chamber.

The energetic aspect of sound radiation by a~clamped annular plate has been considered. The total sound power, active and reactive, was computed using the impedance approach, which makes possible to correctly design some acoustic systems. The plate was excited by the external pressure of an axisymmetric and time-harmonic distribution on the plate's surface. The Kelvin-Voigt theory of a~visco-elastic plate was employed. The results of a~modal analysis of an annular plate's in-vacuo motion were used.
