Comparison of the PMSM drives by means of generalized express method and power density criterion

The paper is devoted to a time effective comparison of the different radial and axial PMSM configurations with the aim of revealing the more progressive and approved approach to optimal design of high performance motor drives. A new generalized express method, based on the geometrical sizes and power density relationship is described and applied for the comparison of the PMSM. Derived a simple analytical expression enables to draw 3D plot of volume ratio of compared machines and based on them high torque gearless drives.

W artykule, w celu określenia najbardziej perspektywicznej i wiarygodnej metody do optymalnego projektowania napędów elektrycznych o najlepszych charakterystykach eksploatacyjnych, przedstawiono problematykę efektywnego porównania maszyn synchronicznych z magnesami trwałymi (MSMT). Opracowana nowa metoda szybkiego porównania MSMT wykorzystuje matematyczną zależność wymiarów geometrycznych i mocy jednostkowych. Wyprowadzono proste wyrażenie analityczne, które pozwala przedstawić w formie graficznej 3D zależność dla objętości względnych porównywanych maszyn i budowanych z ich wykorzystaniem bezprzekładniowych wysokomomentowych napędów elektrycznych.

From the view point of practical applications and the theory of evolutionary algorithms, an important problem is the location of many local extrema showing at the same time the position of a global extremum. To accomplish this task, a new space exploration procedure is proposed using a so-called "linear projection". Additionally, a clustering technique is introduced to the selection procedure. Operation of the method is illustrated by searching the function of two variables with extrema separated by a tableland with a box-type limitation. Each time, irrespective of the number of clusters, calculations enabled location of all three extrema.
