This paper presents a residual stress analysis and plastic zone behavior in antisymmetric aluminum metal-matrix laminated plates. First-order shear deformation theory and Finite Element Method are considered in the solution for small deformations. The plate is meshed into 64 elements and 289 nodes with both simply supported or clamped boundary conditions. Stainless steel fiber reinforced aluminum metal-matrix laminated plates of constant thickness are formed by stacking four layers bonded antisymmetrically. It is assumed that the laminated plates are subjected to transverse uniform loads. Loading is gradually increased from yield point of the plate as 0.0001 MPa at each load step. Load steps are chosen as 100, 150 and 200.

Elastic and elasto-plastic stress analysis is carried out in the thermoplastic composite beam under the transverse uniform load by using an analytical method. The expansion of elasto-plastic boundary is obtained by using the boundary conditions in the elasto-plastic region. the variations of the elasto-plastic region, the maximum normal and shear residual stresses are investigated according to the changes in the values of x coordinates.

Residual stress analysis is carried out in a thermoplastic composite laminated plate for in-plane loading. Low density polyethylene thermoplastic matrix (LDPE) and steel fibers are used to produce the composite plates by using moulds. The first order shear deformation theory and nine node Lagrangian finite element are used. Mathematical formulation is given for the residual stress analysis of a laminated plate for small deformations. Yield points and stresses are obtained for symmetric and antisymmetric laminated plates without and with a circular hole. Elastic, elasto-plastic and residual stresses in plates are given in tables. The expansion of plastic zones is illustrated for 100, 200 and 300 load steps. Yield points and the expansion of plastic zones are compared for different plates without and with a circular hole.
