The feed system 3 kV DC in the section from Púchov to Košice will be replaced by AC feed system 25 kV, 50 Hz. There are many relatively new one system (DC) electric locomotives in the fleet of both Slovak railway companies which will lose their use after reconstruction of track feed system. This is the reason why Slovak railway companies consider reconstruction of some classes of DC electric locomotives for dual system of feeding. The research and development of locomotive reconstruction and new traction equipment is carried out in the frame of Project ? APVV-0549-06 supported by Agency APVV.
