Content available remote Corporate environmental management in the context of digital transformation
EN
Managers and the market place a higher importance on environmental management of businesses as sustainable development becomes the focus of attention. At the same time, the digital economy has become the most dynamic and emerging mode of economic development, driving future business trends and technological innovations. This special issue of Ecological Chemistry and Engineering S (ECE S) collects 6 articles focusing on the challenges and problems in the digital transformation and corporate environment management, which aims to share and discuss the recent advances and future trends of theory and application in academia, and to bring practical implications and experience in industry developers.

Content available remote Eco-technology and eco-innovation for green sustainable growth
EN
The world has developed to the point where productive activities are no longer only about profit and efficiency. With the rapid development of eco-technology across the world, the demand for eco-technology is growing rapidly and the question of how to protect the environment in production activities has been a popular topic for researchers in various countries. It was an inspiration for Professor Witold Wacławek (1938-2020) to found in 1992 a Central European Conference ECOpole and in 1994 the journal Ecological Chemistry and Engineering [1]. This Special Issue is dedicated to him.

Using survey, we discuss how climate and environmental issues awareness affects residents’ low carbon use behaviour. The results are following. Firstly, climate and environmental issues awareness positively affects residents’ low carbon use. Secondly, perceived effectiveness has mediate effect on the relationship between climate and environmental issues awareness and low carbon use behaviour partly. Thirdly, perceived value has negative moderate effect on the relationship between climate and environmental issues awareness and low carbon use conduct. The results of this study show that when residents feel higher perceived value about their low carbon consumption, they will engage in low carbon use even with lower climate and environmental issues awareness. It tells us that we should treat the residents differently with classification when advocate low carbon use. Specifically, there are some product and service in which consumers can gain high perceived value if the residents frugally use them with high efficiency. And we need to make effort to the following things: we improve the perceived value with hard working, and on the other hand, we make enough effort to enable the residents to deeply experience the perceived value via multiple means.

Airlines are an important part of the comprehensive transportation system. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to empirically analyse the measurement of airlines’ environmental efficiency and influencing factors. Adopting the SBM-DEA model, this study measured the environmental efficiency of 20 Chinese airlines between 2010 and 2017 and empirically analysed the factors influencing their environmental efficiency using a Tobit regression model. Spring Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Hainan Airlines were found to have the highest environmental efficiency. Tianjin Airlines, Hebei Airlines, and China Express Airlines had the lowest environmental efficiency. The Tobit regression results showed that average flight distance, load factor, market share, and proportion of cargo and mail turnover had a significant positive effect on airline environmental efficiency. Fuel consumption per ton-km had a significant negative effect on airline environmental efficiency.

The essence of low-carbon logistics is to make logistics capacity grow moderately to meet the requirements of social and economic developments and the goals of energy conservation and carbon reduction through logistics planning and policies, logistics rationalization and standardization, logistics informationization, low-carbon logistics technologies, etc. This study evaluates the performances of human resources in low-carbon logistics enterprises from three assessment facets: work ability, work performance, and work attitude. It adopts the AHP method to reasonably determine an indicator system of performance evaluation and its weight to avoid certain human-caused bias. According to the results herein, the low-carbon work attitude of the case company in recent years has produced good performance, but its low-carbon work performance and low-carbon work ability are both poor. The case company should practically implement and strengthen these indicators so as to enhance human resource performance in low-carbon logistics enterprises. This study establishes a human resources performance evaluation system for low-carbon logistics enterprises to measure the low-carbon working ability, work performance, and working attitude of their general staff. In this way, enterprises may understand their development status, improve development plans, and formulate the best human resources management and development decisions, thus positively guiding their future development.
