The article presents the problem of the lateral-torsional buckling steel beam of linearly variable widths belts and webs, where the webs and belts are reinforced further by transverse ribs. The proposed analytical solution determines the critical moments of the beam, which determines the loss of stability of the beam. Analysis was carried out on the basis of current knowledge of the country and from abroad.

Omówiono problem stateczności ogólnej kształtowników tzw. zwichrzenie. Skupiono się na analizie stalowych belek o zbieżnych środnikach, ze zróżnicowanym współczynnikiem zbieżności przekroju poprzecznego. Do obliczeń wykorzystano program komputerowy DLUBAL, oparty na metodzie elementów skończonych. Wyniki porównano z programem ANSYS wykorzystującym tę samą metodę oraz z metodą analityczną Ritza.

The problem of general stability of profiles so called lateral-torsional buckling beams was discussed. It was focused on the analysis of steel beams with tapering webs, with a varied coefficient of cross-section taper. The computer program DLUBAL, based on finite element method, was used for calculations. The results were compared with computer program ANSYS using the same method as well as with Ritz's analytical method.
