The classical theory of lubrication holds that the lubricant dynamic viscosity increments cause the increments of hydrodynamic pressure, as well as friction forces and wear. In the case of high values of hydrodynamic pressure, it very often has a significant impact on the friction coefficient. New achievements in the field of micro-and nano-tribology provide for new hypotheses on the decrements and increments of the friction coefficient in the case of the lubricant viscosity increments. Experimental investigations have shown that, even in the case of decrements of the friction coefficient with the lubricant viscosity increments, such decrements are very often lower than simultaneous hydrodynamic pressure increments which results in the friction force increments with the lubricant viscosity increments. In biological friction nods, we can observe a varied impact of the biological lubricant viscosity on the friction force and friction coefficient values. The abovementioned impact is caused by the adhesion and cohesion forces occurring between the biological fluid particles flowing around the phospholipid bilayer on the superficial layer of the cartilage with varied wettability and hydrogen ion concentration. The wettability (We) and power hydrogen ion concentration (pH) have a significant impact on the physiological fluid or biological lubricant viscosity variations and, as a result, on the friction forces and friction coefficient. This paper describes the abovementioned impact and the process of friction forces and friction coefficients variations in biological friction nods.

Calculations of the hydrodynamic pressure distribution in the slide bearing gap occur most often on the basis of ready-made computer programs based on CFD methods or one’s own calculation procedures based on various numerical methods. The use of one’s own calculation procedures and, for example, the finite difference method, allows one to include in the calculations of various additional non-classical effects on the lubricant (e.g., the influence of the magnetic field on ferrofluid, the influence of pressure or temperature on viscosity changes, non-Newtonian properties of lubricant or various non-classical models of dynamic viscosity changes). The aim of the authors’ research is to check how large the differences in results may be obtained using the two most frequently used methods of solving a Reynolds type equation. In this work, the authors use the small parameter method and the method of subsequent approximations to determine the distribution of hydrodynamic pressure. For numerical calculations, the finite difference method and our own calculation procedures and Mathcad 15 software were used. With both methods, identical conditions and parameters were assumed and the influence of pressure and temperature on viscosity change was taken into account. In the hydrodynamic pressure calculations, a laminar flow of the lubricating liquid and a non-isothermal lubrication model of the slide bearing were adopted. The classic Newtonian model was used as a constitutive equation. A cylindrical-type slide bearing of finite length with a smooth pan with a full wrap angle was accepted for consideration. In the thin layer of the oil film, the density and thermal conduction coefficient of the oil were assumed to remain unchanged.

Do rozważań przyjęto walcowe łożysko ślizgowe o skończonej długości z gładką panewką o pełnym kącie opasania. W cienkiej warstwie filmu olejowego przyjęto niezmienność gęstości i współczynnika przewodzenia ciepła oleju od temperatury.
This article covers new aspects and a method of hydrodynamic lubrication of various friction pair using vegetable non-Newtonian greases. Biological greases and oils are applied in slide journal bearing lubrication occurring in farm and consumption machines working in pollution sensitive areas. Further applications can be found in humanoid robots joint lubrication as well as lubricants in various friction pairs, for example in gear and other friction nods. The following belong to new vegetable greases: Accu-Lube LB10000 as medium to heavy duty machining oil, Accu-Lube LB 4000 – light to medium duty machining oil. Bio-vegetable greases have very important characteristic features and they offer the following benefits: prevention of corrosion protection-preventing premature failure, maximum penetration-ensuring protection at the cable core, extreme wash-off resistance that guarantees protection in wet conditions. Furthermore, the presented vegetable greases have biodegradability properties; hence, this fact has important meaning in temporary environmental problems. The aim of this article is to present a new general analytical and numerical solution of the hydrodynamic lubrication problem, to determine the influence of the vegetable grease and its biological additions on the temperature distribution in the internal surfaces of the slide bearing sleeve and pressure distribution in the bearing gap or on the cooperating surfaces of the friction pair. The research methods and materials used in this article include the following: the Mathcad 15 Professional Program and new semi-analytical methods applied in connection with the theory of hydrodynamic lubrication extended to the curvilinear orthogonal surface and coordinates. Particular solutions are introduced to the cylindrical coordinates. The obtained results of the lubrication of the movable sleeve surface include a new model of the hydrodynamic lubrication theory. As a consequence of the new method of calculation indicated the intervals are provided of the increases and decreases of the dynamic viscosity of greases and the intervals of the hydrodynamic pressure increments and decrements versus of the pH (power hydrogen ion concentration) of greases and wettability of vegetable greases into cooperating surfaces.

The experimental research presented in this paper was performed using the following devices: a magnetic induction field produced by a new Polish MT-24 Apparatus, a new German Magcell Arthro magneto electronic device, and a Segmental Body Composition Analyzer Tanita MC 780MA. The author's experience was gained in German research institutes, and practical results were confirmed after measurements and information from students and patients. Up to now, theoretical solutions have not been considered. The theoretical and numerical model presented was implemented by using the Mathcad 15 Professional Program. The main conclusion obtained in this paper can be formulated in the following sentence: The run-walk training implemented by an electro-magnetic magnetic field using tight sportswear leads to the increments of the dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid, changes the internal energy contained in the human body, increases the muscle weight, and the percentage of water in the human body; therefore, it accelerates the slimming process connected with the body weight decrements.

The topic of the presented article aims to demonstrate a new principle of hydrodynamic lubrication in mechanical, non-isothermal and electro-magnetic fields. In this article is presented hydrodynamic slide journal bearing in electromagnetic field. The aim of this article is a new general analytical and numerical solution determined the influence of the electro-magnetic field on the temperature distribution in the internal surfaces of the slide-bearing sleeve and pressure distribution in bearing gap. To the research methods and materials used in this article realization belong: the Mathcad 15 Professional Program and new semi-analytical methods applied for theory of hydrodynamic lubrication extended to the curvilinear orthogonal surface and coordinates. Particular solutions are introduced to the cylindrical coordinates. To the obtained results of lubrication of movable sleeve surface belong the increments of the bearing load carrying capacity during the presence and absence magnetic induction field in the case if non-Newtonian lubricant features and constant temperature are taken into account. Simultaneously are observed the increments of the bearing load carrying capacity during the presence magnetic field and Newtonian lubricant. Temperature increments (decrements) without and with magnetic field lead to the hydrodynamic pressure decrements (increments). Moreover are assumed simultaneously the temperature T and oil dynamic viscosity variations in length, width and bearing gapheight directions. From this assumption follows, that the energy equation must be solved simultaneously with the equations of motion i.e. consequently with pressure equation where viscosity depends on temperature and temperature depends on the coordinate in gap height direction.
It can be stated that over the last ten years in the European Union, the number of bone fractures caused by osteoarthritis has increased twofold. More than 100,000 hip or knee joints in total were implanted in Germany during one year. Within ten years, 5% of them have failed by aseptic loosening. The non-invasive determination of friction forces and control of their values during lubrication of cartilage cells on the superficial layer of human joint surfaces before implantation has a significant but not sufficient impact on the observation of the early abrasive wear of the cartilage joint and development of osteoporosis. From this fact was drawn the inspiration for the performed investigations related to the endoprosthesis surface parameters because knowledge of the roughness of prosthesis surfaces and friction forces and their control methods permits provision of a necessary standard deviation of the gap height and finally information about the implantation possibility. This article has been prepared based on the objective of European Project UE Grant IRSES,612593, 2013-2016 to represent the methodology and goal of the idea described in and make a wider discussion possible on this subject for further developments during the realization. To the research methods and materials used in this article realization belong: Rank Taylor Hobson-Talyscan 150 Apparatus implemented by Talymap Expert and Microsoft Excel Computer Program connected with the Mathcad 15 Professional Program and a new semi-analytical methods of probabilistic and statistic prognosis applied for theory of hydrodynamic lubrication of the curvilinear orthogonal surface and coordinates extended to the friction and wear problems of the endoprosthesis surfaces during the exploitation.
Purpose: The topic of the present paper concerns the human joint cartilage therapy performed by the magnetic induction field. There is proved the thesis that the applied magnetic field for concrete cartilage illness should depend on the proper relative and concrete values of applied magnetic induction, intensity as well the time of treatment duration. Additionally, very important are frequencies and amplitudes of magnetic field as well as magnetic permeability of the synovial fluid. Material and methods: The research methods used in this paper include: magnetic induction field produced by a new Polish and German magneto electronic devices for the therapy of human joint cartilage diseases, stationary and movable magnetic applicators, magnetic bandage, ferrofluid injections, author’s experience gained in Germany research institutes and practical results after measurements and information from patients. Results: The results of this paper concern concrete parameters of time dependent electro-magnetic field administration during the joint cartilage therapy duration and additionally concern the corollaries which are implied from reading values gained on the magnetic induction devices. Conclusions: The main conclusions obtained in this paper are as follows: Time dependent magnetic induction field increases the dynamic viscosity of movable synovial fluid and decreases symptoms of cartilage illness for concrete intensity of magnetic field and concrete field line architecture. The ferrofluid therapy and phospholipids bilayer simultaneously with the administrated external electromagnetic field, increases the dynamic viscosity of movable synovial fluid.
The classical hydrodynamic theory of slide bearing lubrication has been constituted on the assumption of constant pressure and viscosity perpendicular to the thin oil layer thickness. These fundamental assumptions are in contradiction to contemporary achievements connected with new devices such as micro-bearing, nano-bearing, magnetic bearings, artificial joints in humanoid robots, micro-motors. Therefore, new methods of measurements and calculations using AFM and a new mathematical computer programs are needed. Energy conservation equations after boundary layer simplifications confirm the fact that temperature gradient variations across the film thickness have the same order of magnitude as the variations in longitudinal or circumferential directions. The fact that temperature gradient variations cross the bearing gap height can be significantly large are evident, despite the temperature differences across the film thickness that are negligibly small. This statement cannot be compliant with the assumption of a constant viscosity value in the gap height direction. It has been proven that hydrodynamic pressure is not constant across the film thickness for non-Newtonian oils with Rivlin Erickson constitutive equations. For pseudo-plastic non-Newtonian oils, the apparent dynamic viscosity significantly decreases with shear rate increases. However, for pseudo-plastic oils, the shear rate increments during the oil flow are strictly connected with the average flow velocity increments. Therefore, the apparent dynamic viscosity depends strongly on the oil velocity gradients. It is evident that flow velocity gradients across the film thickness have intensive variations, particularly in regions where gap height attains the least value. In these places, the dynamic viscosity attains the largest variations in gap height directions. If gap height in micro-bearing is smaller than one micrometre, than the largest oil dynamic viscosity increments caused by the velocity variations across the film thickness are located near the superficial layer of the movable journal surfaces in the case of the hydrodynamic lubrication by rotation, but in the neighbourhood where each of two come near lubricated surfaces during the squeezing. Hence, in these places, dynamic viscosity increases across the film thickness and attains the local maximum values. A gap height smaller than one micrometre has the largest oil dynamic viscosity increments caused by the adhesion force variations across the film thickness located near the motionless sleeve surfaces. In a similar manner, the influences on the viscosity variations caused by the luster points of concentrations of nano particles as oil inhibitors or oil additives smaller than 5 nm occurring in micro-bearing gaps and the cluster concentration regions of collagen fibres occurring in human joint gap are observed. This paper describes and comments on the above-mentioned problem of oil viscosity changes in the gap height direction, and it presents the apparent dynamic viscosity functions for Newtonian and non-Newtonian oils as well indicates the largest viscosity variations in bearing gap height direction and gives examples of initial calculation results.

1. 4. Siły adhezji w szczelinach łożysk o wysokości poniżej mikrometra osiągają największe wartości w pobliżu współpracujących powierzchni, powodując w tych obszarach największe wzrosty lepkości oleju po kierunku wysokości szczeliny.
During classical journal bearing lubrication the lubricant viscosity is independent of physical properties of cooperating bodies, which is well known by virtue of Hersey-Stribeck (H-S) curve presenting friction coefficient vs. Hersey number = viscosity×velocity/pressure. The result obtained by the H-S is valid for two cooperating bodies with homogeneous, isotropic properties, and for Newtonian oils omitting the elastohydrodynamic effects. In the presented paper, we take into account the two cooperating human joint cartilage surfaces, which, after new AFM measurements, have non-homogeneous hypo- or hyper-elastic properties, and the synovial fluid Has non-Newtonian features. Moreover, the cartilage surface during human limb motion and during the squeezing and boosted squeezing effects gains important small deformations. From the above mentioned description, it follows that the H-S result cannot be acceptable in human joint lubrication [L. 1–6]. During human joint hydrodynamic lubrication, we observe the influence of the material coefficients of the hypo- and hyper-elastic cartilage tissue on the apparent viscosity of non-Newtonian synovial fluid occupying the thin joint gap limited by the two cartilage superficial layers. This problem has not been considered in scientific papers describing the hydrodynamic lubrication of the human joint. This problem attains significant meaning because, after numerous AFM laboratory measurements confirmed by the literature achievements, it follows that the joint cartilage tissue with a thin polar membrane made of two lipid molecules has no isotropic but anisotropic properties in general. These membranes are flat sheets that form a continuous barrier around the cartilage cells. Non homogeneous, anisotropic biological bodies as distinct from classical isotropic materials have the various values of elasticity, hypoelasticity, or hyper-elasticity modules on individual places and directions. These places, loaded by the same forces, tend to various displacements and strains. In consequence, mutually connected physical implications caused by virtue of synovial fluid flow velocity and shear rates changes, indicate to us the conclusion that the dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid gains value variations caused by the cartilage’s physical properties during human joint lubrication.

Ukazane w niej rezultaty prezentują metodologię i cele opisanej idei badawczej, umożliwiając szeroką dyskusję potrzebną do dalszych badań w zakresie projektów bioinżynierii.Przedstawiony został również parametryczny opis parametrów powierzchni endoprotez. Mogą one również znaleźć zastosowania przy probabilistycznej ocenie parametrów struktur geometrycznych powierzchni rozmaitych implantów.

Within the last ten years in the European Union the number of bone fractures caused by the osteoarthritis increased twofold. More than 100000 hip or knee joints in total have been implanted in Germany during one year. Within ten years, 5% of them have failed by aseptic loosening. The non-invasive determination of friction forces and the control of their values during lubrication of cartilage cells on the superficial layer of human joint surfaces before implantation have a significant but not sufficient influence on the observation of the early abrasive wear of cartilage joint and the development of osteoporosis. From this fact was drawn the inspiration for the performed investigations referring the endoprosthesis surface parameters, because knowledge of the roughness of prosthesis surfaces and friction forces and their control methods makes it possibile to provide the necessary random standard deviation of gap height and finalny information about implantation possibility. This paper has been prepared based on the objective knowledge gained from the author’s experimental and theoretical experiences to represent the methodology and goal of the idea described in the study and to make possible a wider discussion on this subject for further developments during the realization of various bioengineering projects in the field of hydrodynamic artificial human and humanoid robots joints.
The surface of an articular cartilage human joint, coated with phospholipid bilayers or multi-layers, plays an important role in the surface-active phospholipid lubrication, friction, and wear during human limb movement. The biological bi-layer is a thin polar membrane composed of two layers of phospholipids that have a hydrophilic phosphate head (from the outside) and a hydrophobic tail (from the inside) consisting of two fatty acid chains. These membranes are flat sheets that form a continuous barrier around all cells. Synovial fluid (SF) in the human joint gap contains glycoprotein, lubricin (proteinglycan 4), and hyaluronidase, i.e. an enzyme that produces hialuron acid and ±10% phospholipids. Because the mechanism of surface articular phospholipid lubrication (SAPL) has been a frequently controversial subject in the past decade, this fact requires showing the hydrodynamic description in the form of a mathematical model of the abovementioned problem and its particular solution. To give a description of this model, it is necessary to recognize the variations of the dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid as a function of parameters depending on the presence of many phospholipid particles. To these parameters belong power (exponent) concentration of hydrogen ions (pH), cartilage wet ability (We), collagen fibre concentration in synovial fluid, and a created electrostatic field on the phospholipid membrane. Based on the Young-Laplace-Kelvin Law, initial achievements presented in scientific papers and our own investigations illustrated in this paper, the decrements, and increments of synovial fluid dynamic viscosities versus pH and wet ability (We) increases, simultaneously taking into account the influence of the intensity of charges in the electrostatic field. Moreover, this study considers the influence of collagen fibre concentration on the dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid. Based on initial considerations performed by virtue of the developed SAPL, it May be stated that the charge increments from low to high values of the electrostatic field is connected with viscosity increases of synovial fluid but only simultaneously with the pH index and cartilage wet ability variations.

Praca niniejsza stanowi wstęp do dalszych badań.
The numerous logistics problems occurring in power train and transport industry lead to wear of vehicles and trains as well as the road or tracks length. The choice of the proper transport requires selecting the kind of the optimum length of the way. For facilities for transport of bulk commodity, very important meaning has the distance between the place of outgoing (x) and delivery point (y). Such problem will be referring for the one, two and three spaces in the case of land transport for road and rail vehicles as well as sea and air transport for ships and airplane. It is desired that the transport from outgoing point (x) to delivery place (y) ought to be travelled on the shortest way in the presenting geometry sense. In transport, logistics denotes it the least distance between the place of the drive beginning (outgoing) and the place of drive end (delivering place). It is evident that the shortest distance between two points is always if we define this distance in Euclidean geometry sense because Euclidean metric determines the shortest distance between two points. In various transport problems the shortest distance in Euclidean sense, between two various places is not realistic and not possible. Therefore for transport vehicles exists many possibilities of various kinds of access road in Euclidean and non- Euclidean geometry. After Authors, suggestion very interesting is to find the optimum way or optimum track between the trip origin and delivery place. Such problem demands the more and more information referring the describing the tracks geometry using metric space theory. In this article, especially the non-Euclidean modulus Taxi–Car metrics is considered. Presented metric spaces and their properties are needed and applied in practical transport problems occurring among other in assembly rooms where the way of intelligent shortest truck must be considered. Moreover, in this article the various communication ways will be presented and will be suggested an algorithm construction of the optimum distance problem solutions in non-Euclidean geometry presenting the equivalent and simultaneously most simple communication tracks.
The surface of humanoid robots is more or less deformable metal and plastic replica of human body. An advanced humanoid robot has human like behaviour – it can talk, run, jump or climb stairs in a very similar way a human does. Hence follows that operation of construction of the robots artificial joints to be similar for biological joints activities. This fact requires applying proper as well corresponding soft solid materials, and specific lubricants. To the interesting phenomena belong the fact, that as well the surfaces of an articular cartilage human joint as the soft surfaces of the robot joints, coated with ultra-thin hyperelastic multi-layers, plays an important role in the surface active lubrication, relative small friction forces and wear during the human limb or robot body activities in the movement. The presence of the ultra-thin hyperelastic layers consisting the soft bearing materials including hyperelastic nano-particles during the robot bearing lubrication enables to indicate numerous positive effects among other the decreases the friction coefficient values. Therefore, the results obtained in this paper may be applicable during the joint-endo-prosthesis or artificial joint design in new humanoid robots, where instead cartilage and synovial fluid are applied new soft materials with active hyperelastic micro- and nano- particles. In this paper is shortly presented the mathematical model of hydrodynamic lubrication of thin boundary layer describing the robot joint. Mathematical model in 3D for lubricant consists of three equations of motion, continuity equation, conservation of energy equation and Young-Kelvin-Laplace equation describing the thin layer interfacial energy.
Numerous Authors of scientific papers occurring in hydrodynamic theory of slide bearing lubrication, up to now almost always had neglected the oil dynamic viscosity variations caused by temperature, adhesion forces, capillary forces, or hydrogen ion concentration across the film thickness by virtue of the statement of the constant temperature as well constant adhesion as capillary forces in the thin bearing gap height direction. In addition, simultaneously by virtue of boundary layer simplifications for energy equation and by virtue of new measurements performed in micro and nano- level follows that oil temperature gradients and its values differences and adhesion or capillary gradients of forces in bearing gap height directions are not negligible small. The contemporary hydrodynamic theory of lubrication for non-isothermal lubricant flow is unfortunately based on the assumption of constant viscosity values across the film thickness, despite abovementioned self-evident contradiction between the fact of constant viscosity and simultaneously temperature variations in gap height direction. Such problem was up to now not sufficient critical examined and explained in practical and theoretical sense. After Authors, knowledge by virtue of above problem the most scientific papers in the domain of non-isothermal and lamellar hydrodynamic slide bearing or biobearing lubrication were up to now not sufficient correctly solved. It denotes that the main hydrodynamic lubrication solutions presenting for example hydrodynamic pressure by the modified Reynolds equation and temperature by the energy conservation equation are not sufficiently correctly obtained and next not correctly solved. Therefore are assumed simultaneously the temperature T and oil dynamic viscosity variations in length, width and bearing gap- height directions. From this assumption follows, that the energy equation must be solved simultaneously with the equations of motion i.e. consequently with pressure equation where viscosity depends on temperature and temperature depends on the coordinate in gap height direction.

Selection, montage, and lubrication are the fundamental conditions, which have an influence on the correct and long-lasting work of bearing without seizure. The temperature of a correctly assembled and lubricated bearing cannot exceed 70°C, and lower temperatures are recommended during extended operation. The seizure can be caused by excessive load from poor seals or insufficient bearing clearance. After considerations about the seized and damaged bearings, we can estimate the probabilistic values of seizing. Technical literature describes this problem very widely and indicates the reasons for seizures. However, this literature rarely indicates the probabilities for seizures and the related damage, and no probabilities are related to the number of starts of the engine. In this paper, the probabilities of seizing are attributed to the causes of damage using experimental results. The paper also presents a probability analysis of the prognosis of the chance of seizing. Moreover, the highest number of starts of the machine that produced the most expensive losses due to seizing was determined by probability, and numerical examples are given.
Analiza prognozy prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia zatarcia łożysk ślizgowych i tocznych podczas określonej ilości uruchomień maszyny stanowi istotny element diagnostyki oraz niezawodności eksploatowanych maszyn.

The analysis of the seizing prognosis for slide and rolling bearings during the numbers of starts of a machine constitute the important element of diagnostic and machine operational reliability. This problem can be solved only on the basis of mathematical probability and statistics, simultaneously using experimental data. In this paper, an attempt is made to determine the seizing probability values during the starts and stops of a machine depended on bearing material, bearing load, bearing montage, errors of construction, corrosion, mechanical impurities, bearing superheating, and vibrations. The paper describes and determines the prognosis algorithm for the seizing probability number of a bearing for various starts of engine, because such knowledge has numerous applications in machine operational reliability. The performed analysis of the seizing probability determination is compactly connected with the fundamental parameters of the probability theory, such as expected value (EV), with the standard deviation of seizing. The distribution of the Gaussian density function constitutes the main tool used to resolve this problem in this paper.
W trakcie eksploatacji połączeń tarciowych w czynniku smarującym zachodzą procesy fizykochemiczne powodujące zmiany podstawowych własności oleju, takich jak lepkość i smarność. Niniejsza praca podaje metody remodelingu i odnowy olejów smarujących węzły tarcia ślizgowego na bazie kilku charakterystyk uzyskanych w trakcie badań doświadczalnych. Do zewnętrznych charakterystyk zaliczyć można skutki oddziaływania pola elektromagnetycznego i działania fal akustycznych.

During the lubrication of frictional connections, physical and chemical processes causing changes in the fundamental properties of oil, such as lubricity and viscosity, take place. Such changes are from mutual interactions of the considered lubrication system and have a permanent state. The effect of the oil degradation denotes the decrement of oil viscosity, which denotes the decease in the usability of the oil in lubrication process. Motor oil contamination denotes the continuous accumulation of impurities, because the lubrication system works in a closed circuit. Motor oil contamination intensity depends on the following: the technical state, operational conditions, the kind of filtration, the kind of the lubricant, the volume of inhibitors, and others. The paper shows the methods of oil remodelling for sliding frictional nods based on some characteristics obtained during the experimental performances. This paper also presents the internal and external characteristics already mentioned. The internal characteristics include the changes of oil viscosity for non-Newtonian oil properties connected with the rheology features during the operational time. The external characteristics include the electro-magnetic field and acoustic waves.
