The paper is devoted to the prediction of conditions of high temperature sulphur corrosion of the walls in a combustion chamber in a pulverised coal boiler. Chemical mechanism of corrosion based on the description proposed by French [3] is reminded. The rate of high temperature corrosion of the rear wall in OP-230 boiler is shown for two cases. Contrary to the first simply case in the second one the rear wall was protected by air curtain. The numerical simulation of the combustion process in the boiler is performed. Concentration of CO, O2 and mixture fraction variance in the near wall region is presented. The highest rate of corrosion is found in a place where CO and O2 concentration is of the same order and simultaneously mixture fraction variance is high.
