The article presents the characteristics of transport systems in European metropolitan areas, providing a transport service of airports. The authors presented an analysis of statistical data and operating means of transport and compared the ways of servicing the airports. The process of transport service of an airport is influenced by the number of passengers handled, by the way, transport is organised in a given area and by infrastructural conditions. The article uses correlation analysis, regression models and linear correlation indices.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę wielokryterialnej oceny obsługi transportowej portu lotniczego, wspomagającą decyzje podejmowane przez organizatorów przewozów w zakresie wyboru optymalnego wariantu połączenia portu lotniczego z centralnym obszarem aglomeracji miejskiej. Autorzy przedstawili poszczególne etapy metody oraz sposób doboru kryteriów, które istotnie wpływają na uzyskany wynik analizy. W artykule zamieszczono studium przypadku dla oceny połączenia Międzynarodowego Portu Lotniczego Katowice w Pyrzowicach z Katowicami. Analizowane warianty różniły się wykorzystanymi środkami transportowymi oraz przebiegiem trasy.

The method of multicriteria assessment of the transportation service of the airport has been presented in the article. The several stages of the method have also been presented. The method of selection of criteria is one of the most important step in the process. The article describes the most important criteria, according to the authors, which have been took into account. The article contains the case study for the assessment of transportation service between Katowice Airport and the Katowice city. The selection of transportation means and course of the route have been the main difference between analysed variants.
