Environmental protection has increasingly adopted economic dimensions, and the environment is treated as a “capital” that can be used for economic and social development. This capital must be preserved for future generations, which is why increasing attention has been paid to taking pro-ecological actions to protect the environment. In order to improve the quality of the environment, it is necessary to make various types of investments in it. The Sustainable Development Initiative assumes that the economic growth of countries should be implemented in a manner consistent with the natural conditions of nature. The aim of this study was to identify and present the current possibilities of financing sustainability in Poland after joining the European Union, taking into account the risk of undertaking such an investment.

Problemy demograficzne dotyczą wszystkich krajów Unii Europejskiej. Rządy podejmują działania wspierające rodzicielstwo, aby im zaradzić, na przykład przez preferencje podatkowe czy różnego rodzaju dopłaty. Na tle Unii Europejskiej wyróżnia się Francja, która ma najwyższy wskaźnik dzietności i bardzo rozbudowaną strukturę preferencji podatkowych dla rodzin. W Polsce, gdzie wskaźnik dzietności jest jednym z najniższych w Europie, podatkowe rozwiązania prorodzinne funkcjonują dopiero kilka lat. Celem opracowania było przedstawienie podstawowych zasad polityki prorodzinnej stosowanych we Francji i Polsce oraz analiza skuteczności tych rozwiązań.

All countries of the European Union affect demographic problems. The governments take action to solve them, for example by using the systems of support, reliefs etc. The country that has the highest fertility rate and expanded structure of tax preferences for families is France. In Poland, where the fertility rate is among the lowest in Europe, the familyfriendly solutions in tax exist only few years. The aim of the study was to present the basic principles of family-friendly policies applied in France and Poland, and analysis of the effectiveness of these solutions.

The Merger and Acquisition (M&A) market has a short history in Poland but the number and value of transactions show that investors are interested in M&A. Since Poland has joined the European Union, the activity of national and foreign investors is still increasing. The market liberalization, low costs of work and the geographical attractiveness encourage to investing in Poland. The important thing is that mergers and acquisitions are faster and easier way for come into being than greenfield investments.
