The influence of economic and geographic conditions on the development of container terminals at the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority

This publication describes the factors governing the development of containerization in Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, together with their organizational infrastructure and economy. These factors include port access to transportation facilities, which has a major influence on economic development and strengthens the position in the Polish market. Geographic location of both the port and the status and functioning of the Szczecin-Świnoujście fairway were taken into account. The amount of container handling in the ports described in the years from 2004 to 2015 was examined. The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority is discussed in terms of size and progress of its changes, and handling capacity compared to other marine container terminals in Poland.

Rosnący poziom konkurencji na rynku usług bankowych wymaga systematycznej analizy i oceny wyników osiąganych przez jedne z największych banków komercyjnych w sektorze. Do takich należą na polskim rynku Bank BPH SA, ING Bank Śląski SA, Kredyt Banku SA oraz BZ WBK SA. Głównym zagadnieniem pracy była analiza porównawcza parametrów ekonomicznych wpływających na osiągane wyniki finansowe tych podmiotów w latach 1996 – 2004. Ocenie poddano liczbę placówek, wielkość zatrudnienia oraz sumę aktywów. Uzyskane, dzięki zastosowaniu pakietu STATISTICA 6.0 PL wyniki, pozwoliły wskazać atrybuty decyzyjne wspomagające proces konsolidacji w sektorze bankowym.

Ascending level of competition on the market of bank services calls for systematical analysis and the evaluation of results obtained by some of the greatest commercial banks in section. On Polish market ING BŚ SA, BZWBK SA, Kredyt Bank SA and BPH SA banks belong to the best financial institutions of this type. The main issue of this paper was a comparative analysis of economical factors influencing the following institutions: ING BŚ SA, BZWBK SA, Kredyt Bank SA and BPH SA, between 1996 and 2004. Assessment of such economical factors like the number of outposts, rate of employment and the total of assets was made. Using the STATISTICA 6.0 PL package, allowed for presenting decisional attributes facilitating the consolidation process in the bank section.

W pracy dokonano analizy porównawczej parametrów ekonomicznych wpływających na osiągane wyniki finansowe dwóch instytucji bankowych: ING Banku Śląskiego S.A. oraz BZ WBK S.A. w latach 1995 - 2003. Pod uwagę wzięto liczbę placówek, zatrudnienie oraz sumę bilansową. Wyniki przedstawiono na wykresach oraz za pomocą statystyk opisowych. Do obliczeń wykorzystano programy: MATHEMATICA 4.0 oraz STATISTICA 5.0 PL.

The paper tackles the outcome of the contrastive analysis of the economic parameters governing the financial results of the two banks ING Bank Śląski and BZ WBK in the years 1995-2003. The aspects studied in the papers included mainly the number of the departments, employment details and the overall revenue of both institutions. The results have been presented in the form of graphs and charts, as well as by the means of descriptive statistics principles. Applications such as MATHEMATICA 4.0 and STATISTICA 5.0 PL have been used to carry out mathematical calculations.
