Handle Evaluation of Men’s Suitings Produced in Turkey

This article explains subjective evaluation techniques for stiffness, thickness and smoothness, which are the components of handle of suitings, and subjective assessments using these techniques. Another objective of this research was to study the fabric handle of worsted suitings produced in Turkey. For this purpose a preliminary study was made to determine the words to define fabric attributes used in Turkey. Thickness, stiffness and smoothness were chosen as the components of the fabric handle of worsted men’s suitings. Subjective assessment techniques were developed to assess the chosen attributes. These techniques were applied to 73 fabric samples with the help of an expert jury. The concordances of the subjective test results were investigated by the Kendall concordance test and correlation analyses were carried out to examine the relations between the subjective test results. The assessment of the fabrics by the jury using the techniques was in good agreement. A total handle of 100% wool and wool/polyester blend worsted men’s suitings produced in Turkey has a grade of 3.47 on a five-point rating scale. A database was prepared for the handle of worsted men’s suitings produced in Turkey.

Opisano subiektywne techniki oceny sztywności, grubości i gładkości tkanin, będące podstawą oceny chwytu tkanin ubraniowych. Analizowano chwyt tkanin ubraniowych przetwarzanych w Turcji. Przeprowadzono badania wstępne dla określenia słownictwa stosowanego dla zdefiniowania tkaniny. Przyjęto sztywność, grubość i gładkość jako określenia determinujące chwyt tkanin zgrzeblonych stosowanych do szycia męskich ubrań. Opracowano subiektywne metody oceny. 72 próbki tkanin zbadano jury ekspertów. Dla określenia zależności między poszczególnymi ocenami jury, zgodność wyników zbadano testem Kendalla. Stwierdzono dobrą zgodność. Oceniono, że dla męskich tkanin ubraniowych produkowanych w Turcji ze zgrzeblonej czystej wełny oraz przędz mieszankowych wełna - poliester uogólniony chwyt wynosi na 3.47 w skali pięciopunktowej. Przygotowano bazę danych dla tkanin tego typu produkowanych w Turcji.

Relationships Between Yarn Diameter / Diameter Variation and Strength

In this study, relationships between yarn diameter/diameter variation and yarn strength were investigated. For this, we used 100% cotton combed ring yarns of nine types from the same blend which have three yarn counts with three levels of twists, as well as 100% wool worsted yarns of nine types which have nine different yarn counts and twist levels. The findings obtained were evaluated by correlation and regression analyses, and statistically significant correlation coefficients between yarn strength and yarn diameter/diameter variation were found. Furthermore, multiple linear regression models were established to allow the estimation of yarn strength from the other yarn parameters such as yarn diameter, diameter variation, twist, twist variation, capacitive and optical unevenness.

Zbadano zależności pomiędzy średnicą przędzy i jej wahaniami a wytrzymałością. Do badań wzięto następujące rodzaje przędzy: bawełnianą (100%) czesankową przędzę obrączkową, pochodzącą z tej samej partii, ale w 9 wariantach, zróżnicowanych masą liniową (3 warianty); oraz wełnianą (100%) przędzę czesaną o 9 różnych masach liniowych i skrętach. Wyniki badań poddano ocenie za pomocą korelacji i analizy regresyjnej. Znaleziono statystycznie istotne współczynniki korelacji pomiędzy wytrzymałością przędzy a jej średnicą i wahaniami tej średnicy. Uzyskano również szereg liniowych modeli regresji wielokrotnej, które pozwalały na ocenę zależności wytrzymałości przędzy od jej parametrów takich jak: średnica, wahania średnicy, skręt, wahania skrętu i równomierność mierzona metodą optyczną i pojemnościową.
