Content available remote SASK method for testing hydraulic conductivity of soils by flat dilatometer (DMT)
EN
DMT is one of the most popular methods of determining soil parameters needed to design a safe construction. Apart from the basic outcome parameter obtained from DMT measurements hydraulic conductivity (k) can be determined, previously proposed DMTA and DMTC methods were modified. The basic idea of the method is that the return of the deformed membrane is due to soil and water pressure. In the proposed SASK method the hydraulic conductivity of the soil is determined by measuring time-varying pressures A and C. Research has been performed at the experimental site of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, WULS. In the paper, the assumptions of the new method for determining the hydraulic conductivity k are presented. The proposed method allows us to determine a reliable value for the hydraulic conductivity of clay soils. Using this method, the value of hydraulic conductivity (k = 5,47*10–11) is similar to the results of BAT, DMTA and laboratory measurements.

Content available remote On exponential decay for linear porous thermo elasticity system
EN
We study the problem of exponential decaying for solutions of porousthermoelasticity system, when time (…). For suficiently small values of the parameter of intensity of elasticity-porosity interactions the exponential decaying is established. In the considerations we apply the idea of compact decoupling for the system of equations. The exponential decaying property is proved first for the corresponding decoupled system, which is simpler to handle, then the property is derived for the original system.

W artykule przedstawiono zasady sprawdzania stanów granicznych projektowanych budowli według Eurokodu 7 z uwzględnieniem oddziaływań wynikających z obecności lub przepływu w podłożu wody podziemnej. Wymagania normowe zastosowano do obliczeń projektowych budynku podpiwniczonego sprawdzając możliwość zniszczenia hydraulicznego przez wyparcie (UPL) i budowli hydrotechnicznej - jazu, sprawdzając możliwość zniszczenia hydraulicznego przez unoszenie cząstek gruntu, prowadzące do przebicia (HYD). Wyniki obliczeń wykorzystano do opracowania wniosków przydatnych w praktyce projektowania geotechnicznego budowli według Eurokodu 7.

The paper presents the principles and rules of Eurocode 7 required for the verification of the design structures considering the hydraulic failure. Eurocode 7 requirements were applied in the design of two structures as follows: building with an underground basement and a concrete weir. Two limit states of the design structures were verified, mainly uplift and heave. Based on the calculation results the conclusions were drawn, which would be useful for the geotechnical design of structures regarding the hydraulic conditions.

The problem of exponential decay for solutions of porous-thermoelasticity system, when time t ->∞ is studied. For sufficiently small values of parameter of intensity of elasticity-porosity interactions the exponential decaying is established. The idea of compact decoupling is applied for the system of equations. Exponential decay is proved first for the simpler decoupled system, then the prop erty is derived for the original system.

The systems of evolution equations modelling elasticity and thermoelas-ticity of viscoporous bounded media are considered. The existence of co-semigroups of contractions defining solutions to the systems is proved. The asymptotic vanishing of energies of solutions when t -> (infinity) is explained.

A multifractal method describing the fine scale structure of turbulence, including its intermittency, is employed to describe the plant-cell-aggregate breakage process. The model predicts transient aggregate size distribution in agreement with experimental data.
