Study of creep crack growth in steels working under high temperatures

This paper presents experimental results of creep crack propagation performed on specimens sampled from welded joints on pipes made out of heat resistant steels. The experimental system is a solution developed by ISIM Timişoara. The operating mode is described. Processing is computer controlled and allows the acquisition of experimental data. The heating system of the specimen, in isothermal regime, uses halogen lamps, which leads to the temperature control as stipulated in the testing standard. Results are given as dependence diagrams of the creep crack growth rate depending on the CT parameter.
