An excavation dug out in the glacially transported rock masses at Golaszyn near Łuków (eastern Poland), revealed the presence of deposits unknown so far in this area. These are older than the only known so far here glacially transported clays containing concretions with splendidly preserved ammonites of late Callovian at Łapiguz brickyard of Łuków. The succession exposed consists of sands and sandstones of Middle Callovian age which rest on red-brownish clays. The latter may be compared with the Triassic - Buntsandstein deposits of the northwestern Lithuania, that is the home area of glacially transported rock masses, commonly occurring in eastern Poland in the Łuków area. The new geological discoveries markedly increase a set of attractions for the promotion of the Łuków region for the education and geotourism purposes.

The paper deals with the study of the Middle Jurassic clays near the town of Łuków, to identify its position, depth and thickness defined using geoelectrical techniques. The electrical properties of the ground were determined by a non-invasive 2D Resistivity Imaging Method which involves the investigation of the distribution of resistivity in the ground in X and Z direction. The measurements were carried out on four survey profiles that allowed to distinguish the horizontal and vertical extent of the Jurassic raft. It is not regular, but represents a more complicated structure. The values of resistivity, identified with the Jurassic clays, were very low and reached about 1-20 Q,m, which allowed interpreting, on each resistivity cross-section, its thickness changing from a few metres up to tens of metres.

Artykuł ten opisuje możliwości poprawienia predykcji notowań cen i zasobów miedzi przy użyciu filtracji cyfrowej. Stanowi ona etap wstępny, który eliminuje z sygnału losowego, jakim jest notowanie giełdowe, jego wyższe harmoniczne traktowane jako zakłócenia. Po analizie widmowej ciągu notowań giełdowych określono najwłaściwsze częstotliwości próbkowania i wybrano dwa najbardziej odpowiednie rodzaje filtrów cyfrowych. Dla tak przefiltrowanych sygnałów oraz dla notowań oryginalnych użyto metody predykcji GARCH. Jest ona szeroko stosowana w modelowaniu ekonometrycznym i finansowym, ze względu na dobre wyniki symulacji zachowań procesów heteroskedastycznych, jakimi są notowania giełdowe. Na końcu porównano błędy predykcji, uzyskując zadowalająco niskie ich wartości dla pierwszych 200 próbek sygnałów odfiltrowanych, które można porównać z błędem predykcji sygnału oryginalnego.

This article describes improvement capabilities of copper exchange rates prediction using digital filtering. It is considered as a preliminary step which eliminates signal's upper harmonics treated as a random noise. Having finished copper stock exchange quotation's spectral analysis the most appropriate sampling frequencies and two best suitable digital filter types were chosen. Both original and filtered signals were used for exemplary prediction with GARCH method. This method is widely used in the econometric and financial modeling area because of its good results when dealing with heteroscedastic signals like exchange transactions. Finally prediction errors comparison took place. There are satisfactorily Iow errors for the first 200 data samples of filtered signals. They are comparable with prediction error obtained with original copper exchange rate time series.

Do oceny zaburzeń układu ruchowego człowieka zastosowano metodę opartą na rejestracji obrazu techniką video. Celem badań była analiza wpływu częstotliwości akwizycji obrazów video na ocenę parametrów drżenia kończyny górnej człowieka. Pomiary mają charakter badań wstępnych i zostały przeprowadzone w grupie osób uzależnionych od alkoholu. Lepsze różnicowanie wewnątrz i między badanymi grupami uzyskano dla częstotliwości akwizycji równej fa=10 klatek/s.

Method based on video image processing was used for the analysis of the motor system disorders in man. The aim of the preliminary research was to estimate the influence of video image frame. The method was applied to the examination of tremor caused by alcoholism. The results show that the method of detection and quantification of tremor are most sensitive for the aquisition with the frequency 10 Hz
